Q:My new igniter has 2 more ports than I need. I've connected the wired that I have and it works fine. Does it matter that I have unused ports?

A: No, the unused ports don’t matter so long as the igniter is the correct replacement module, it fits and works. Companies often use a common module with excess features vs a specific design to reduce manufacturing costs.

Put away that match

I didn't even know that these things failed but when mine did I resorted to using a match stick. Then I looked up the part number and found that Home Depot had the replacement. When my order arrived in a few days, it was simply a case of removing the old switch from the grill, transferring the wires to the new device, and then reattaching it to the grill. That whole process took less than 10 minutes. Now I can once again just press the ignition button to safely light the grill. No more struggling with getting the match stick to light the burner.
