Great little utiity lock!
The Nite Ize Aluminum keyring is a great little utility key lock. I use mine to carry my Flashcard and my ID for work. It can be used for much more than that too since it can be used as a carabiner too. It's made of quality materials and I have other items from this company which have not disappointed. I like the lock feature so to get it off you actually have to adjust it to depress the lock part. Thanks for making good quality stuff!
I am a key carabiner lover and have always been happy with Nite Ize products. This carabiner is to hold my van key and multitool key ring for when I am driving that vehicle. I like to carry a minimum number of items in my pockets so I have my keys on two different carabiners. I have my normal set on the bottle opener S biner from Nite Ize, but wanted a less bulky option for the van key. The picture shows a truck key, key fob, house key, and mail key just for a better idea of the size, but typically I have just a Honda van key and keychain multi-tool.
The locking mechanism works well and when it is not engaged it opens nicely with a good amount of tension. If the locking mechanism is not in I have little worry that it would open accidentally, but the extra assurance is nice. The strap that comes with it can be nice for a single key, but I don't use it for my normal keys because I don't want them to hang down that far. Overall another good Nite Ize product.
Great Lock System to Prevent the Carabiner from Opening Accidentally
Nite Ize SlideLock Key Aluminum Ring in Olive, Green - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review
I’m a pretty big fan of Nite Ize hardware. I have several of their carabiners for different uses. Single end, double end, small, large. It depends on what I use it for. One common problem I have with carabiners in general is their habit of opening up when they shouldn’t. I’ve dropped keys off of my belt loop when I leaned on them wrong. The clip end, while great, can just open unexpectedly. Nite Ize has solved this problem with their trademarked SlideLock.
There’s a small plastic ring on the spring arm part of the carabiner that pushes in to attach it to something like your belt loop, rope or other attachment point. When pushed down into the locked position “notch”, the carabiner will not open. In order to remove it, the plastic ring must be pull out of the notch which allows the carabiner to open for removal. I really like this locking mechanism and it’s the simplest and most secure I’ve seen on any similar products. I have similar lock on another Nite Ize carabiner but the lock is more of a lever that must be turned. It’s too small and too hard to turn by finger alone so something else must be used. This lock is easily put in place or out. Two fingers must be used to lock or unlock and that’s a very good thing. If it were easier to open with a single finger, the carabiner would suffer the same problem as have no lock.
This Nite Ize ring is a size #3 which is good for holding on a belt loop but not too large to keep in my pocket which is what I had in mind. This makes it very quick and easy to detach my car’s keyfob from the rest of my keys and gives me a way to attach it to my belt loop as well. The carabiner portion is aluminum has a 1 ¼ inch nylon webbing with a key ring attached to it. The webbing seems plenty strong and appears to be joined by welding or melting as opposed to sewing. I don’t think there will be a problem with it coming apart. I’m not sure what the weight rating for the 3 carabiner is but it’s certainly enough to hold several pounds. It does have a stamp on it saying “NOT FOR CLIMBING” but I think anyone should know this isn’t near large enough for that purpose.
This Nite Ize SlideLock key ring carabiner is a great item. It solves the problem of unwanted opening while still leaving it easy enough to open with two fingers. The webbing it strong enough for my keys and I dare say my belt loop would tear long before the webbing or the carabiner would fail. You owe it to yourself look at this SlideLock product from Nite Ize. You will like it as much as I do.
Nice ring for multiple car fobs - a little too small
This key ring is well made: no sharp edges, has a strong closing spring, additional slide-lock to secure the key ring. The sliding lock is made from hard rubber and is supposed to slide down and prevent the spring from opening up. Having used it for a week, it turns out to be somewhat too small. For me, pushing the spring open is a bit difficult and actually engaging the lock is virtually impossible without looking at it and using both hands - not practical for someone with big hands.
Still it is a nice key ring and I like the fact it is a 'pleasant' color
The Nite Ize SlideLock is a good way to secure your keys to your belt loop, back pack, workout water bottle. It has a slide mechanism that slides on the lever that locks and unlocks it. Once locked it becomes secured to whatever you clip it to. The nylon 3 inch webbing gives it flexibility while not compromising strength. The 3/8 " key ring gives it plenty of room for plenty of keys.
I like using these clips to hold my keys. I like that I can use it to clip around my purse strap so I am not digging for my keys. Instead they’re hung from my strap easy for me to access but also where someone else can’t just come up and grab them and run away. Or if I’m not carrying my purse I can attach them to my belt loop. This one has the added feature of the lock which is even better. You simply can slide the black loop up and down to lock and unlock it. It’s a simple use but it makes my day so much easier.
I love the products from Nite Ize. The only issue I have with this key ring is the slide lock which keeps the carabiner jaw locked. I haven't had it open unexpectedly, but it makes me nervous to use this on an unattended item or even a belt loop where I might accidentally rub up against something and release the slide lock. At this point it's only perception, not based on actual events. Still, it works really well in a key cabinet as an organizational center so I don't lose keys. I lose enough other stuff already.
Safety preparation for hurricane season in Florida requires locating keys for two important items – the locks for the cable that secures our emergency generator and the locks on the sliding hurricane shutters that protect our doors and windows. This NITE IZE item is a good place to gather both sets of keys. The package lists the slide lock as being “quick,” however I found it was tricky to position until you happen to see the tiny how-to illustration after you cut the item off the package.
