Universal Dust-Free Router Hood

Amazing dust collection for my Bosch 1617EVSPK router! I live in a small condo and have to do my woodworking inside. So dust collection is hugely important. This dust hood lets me cut dados all day long with virtually zero dust. I combined this dust hood with (1) Ridgid 3 gallon NXT shop vac, (2) Cen-Tec Systems 95248 Quick Click Expanded Multi-Brand Power Tool Adapter Set, and (3) O'SKOOL Automatic Vacuum Switch. The Cen-Tec adapters fit perfectly on the 1.75" hose included with the shop vac, and by using the dust bags with my shop vac, my condo stays virtually dust free. It's a bit tricky to properly install this on the plunge router. But Pattern B does fit properly. (See photos). On my first try, I lined up the holes on pattern B and tightened the screws. When I plunged down to test, my 1/2" collet hit the Dome on the dust hood. I tried loosening the screws and jiggling the base plate a bit, with no success. I was about to give up, but then read several reviews by people saying it fits the plunge base on this router just fine. So I removed the screws, lowered the plunge so the 1/2" collet was lower than the Dome, centered the base plate assembly around the collet, and much to my surprise: the screw holes lined up just fine with the base plate centered properly. It was a tight fit with the screws. But now I have the base plate perfectly centered around my 1/2" collet. One slight annoyance is that the flat side of the base plate does not sit in the same orientation as the stock base plate. It is slightly twisted. So when I use the router, I have to twist the router slightly to use the flat side. Nevertheless, it works just fine. I used it yesterday to cut perfect dados, pushing the edge guide up against my track saw track.

Your results may vary but this does not work very well for me with my Black & Decker Router. The fit is good. Installation was a little tricky to get all the holes lined up to where the base was flat. You can see my first attempt in the photos the plate is not flat. I resolved that alignment issue. With my dust collection system it does not pick up most of the chips. I was routing 3/4" plywood with 1/2 deep with a 3/4" flat router bit and chops spewed all over the place. I am not sure what percentage I collected. The clear attachment that connects to the hose also keeps coming apart from its mating piece on the router base. I feel that those 2 plastic tabs that attach it are going to break as well. The plastic is brittle and not very thick. Whenever I have to replace my router I am going to get one that has a factor dust collection attachment. This product might be better than nothing and is is inexpensive so maybe it is a good stop gab until I step up my router game.

This is an affordable after-market solution for router dust collection. It works perfectly well for my Bosch 1617 router. After searching around for various alternatives, found this very affordable solution. My router was my one tool on my workshop with no dust collection, and it made a huge mess when I was using it to pocket out large areas. This hood worked perfectly in that application. I haven't used the edge-attachments, since I usually use the router in a router table (with dust collection) for that.

Didn't fit my Bosch 1617evs router plunge base. Don't want it on my fixed base because it's on my router table. I almost stripped one of the threads on my plunge base ( I had to carefully re-thread the bolt back in. there's also a suggestion to drill your own holes..... I don't think you should have to fix anything new... do you? I gave it back. I'm getting tired of giving back things, it takes time from me , my project , the things I could be doing to better my quality of life...Et cetera,

Works great , my wife is happy no more sawdust or chips coming in the house

I've used the product on 3 cuts with a circle jig so far. On cut 1 and 3 the dust collection was impressive and using the hood was worthwhile. On cut 2, my bench was covered in chips and dust. Not sure what happened. Until I have more experience with this product, I'm undecided about it.

This works great. Hardly any dust left on the project after using. I highly recommend this. Was even able to attach original base over it to use template guide for sign making.
