Can this product be used to repair small areas plywood sheathing (1' x 1') which have been water damaged?
Asked by: Daniel
PC Rot Terminator is made to penetrate and strengthen wood weakened and rendered porous by rot. If this describes your situation, then yes. I see no reason why sheathing would be different than any other plywood. PC-R-T is not a filler, so if you have a 1x1 hole, I would not use this product. BTW, there's a lot more PC-R-T in the package than needed to repair a small patch, but you can mix any desired amount using the same mixing ratio.

If I use it on a deck that gets a lot of foot traffic, should I use kilz premium, then a good quality exterior stain, or should I use exterior paint?

Would paint or stain hold up better to foot traffic? Should I sand the terminator first with fine sandpaper to help adhesion? I am blending this in to an existing solid stained deck
Asked by: Starneva
Once you apply the Rot Terminator the wood will not accept any type of stain because the wood cells have been literally plasticized! I would suggest trying a decking grade paint for your finish coat.

Can I use a portion of this product at at time, if I want to apply multiple layers, or do you have to use it all at once?
Asked by: garyb444
Terminator takes a long time to cure, so you have at least one, maybe up to three, hours to apply additional coats. Note that this is only useful if terminator is being absorbed into the wood. You can also mix as many batches of "terminator" as you want if you buy additional (smaller) squeeze bottles. The mixture is two parts resin to one part hardener.

Customer Reviews

24 oz. PC-Rot Terminator is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It saved the rotted window frame I found the lower 1/4 of a window frame badly rotted when I went to change an air conditioner. I had heard of this product and only found it on Home Depot on line. After knocking out all the very loose rotted wood which went all the way to the 2x4 framing, I let the remaining wood dry out then drilled many 3/16" holes every where until I got good wood. I filled the holes with Terminator and brushed all the surfaces both inside and out with as much of the product as it would hold. The next day I found all the wood was hard and solid so I started filling the area with Plastic Wood filler. It took a couple applications to bring the surface back to normal levels. it came out great and would recommend Terminator to anyone who doesn't want the big job of replacing a major wood project....Ralph

This product does what it says it does - it penetrates porous rotted wood and hardens the wood when it has cured. The specs with the product are also accurate, but users might not appreciate that it has a very long curing time. You mix the resin and hardener in a ratio of two to one, and the mixture has about the consistency of molasses. It retains this consistency at least a couple hours, which presumably allows the mixture to penetrate and gives you the time to keep the surface of the wood coated. It penetrates intact, unrotted wood only marginally. Mixture in my squeeze bottle (I purchased a smaller one than supplied) was still compressible two days later and was not hard until a week had passed. But it eventually does end up quite hard and rigid.
