Questions & Answers

Is it safe to use inside the house , like the kitchen ?

Is it safe to use inside the house , like the kitchen ?
Asked by: Jon
I have used it in a pole lamp inside the house. It needs to be in total darkness without light from electronics. For example, no light from the TV to attract the bugs. The psychology of a bug is to go to the light. It does not take long to zap a bug with nothing to do but, fly around buzzing. My neighbor has his all around the outside and kills lots of bugs. I turn it on when an occasional fly or mosquito gets in. It beats me trying to hit them with a swatter. Just keep in mind that the bugs can fall out when dead if used near food.

Will the led light work independently of the zapper, or is the zapper always on?

Will the led light work independently of the zapper, or is the zapper always on?
Asked by: Ed
Turn the power source to the light on once and they both come on. Then the light switch off and back on again and it triggers the blacklight/bug zapper alone.

Does it kill gnats/fruit flies?

Does it kill gnats/fruit flies?
Asked by: Desperate
Like all other insects, gnats and fruit flies are attracted to the UV light. The electrifies screen is fine enough to make contact with these tiny bugs as they fly towards the light. Therefore, I believe, this device will be effective in killing these bugs.

LED Bug Zapper is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 236.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dual action I bought this LED bug zapper screw in appliance. I was a little disappointed when it arrived, by the photo, I thought it was a complete fixture. I installed it into an old fixture I had here. It works great, and looks great. The dual action comes into play when turning it on. Turn on and it lights and zaps, turn it on and off and back on within 1 second and the zapper works without the light. It also comes with a small plastic brush to clean the metal grid. Always turn off the appliance before cleaning, as a 2000 volt shock could occur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the price This is a small bug zapper, but it's also a light the fact u can use one or both is great. No, it's not going to rid you of your bug problem, but it's going to put a dent in it. I've had it a week and already had to clean it because of the amount of bugs it has killed. It's help, not a solution, and I'd recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect combination of two different products. After a few days of use, and witnessing several small insects fly to their demise, I can say that the only fact I don’t like about this two for one bugger zapper light bulb is its size. I had initially planned to use it outdoors on my back porch, so myself and my guests could enjoy an area slightly less free of bugs (and we have lots of mosquitos in the Pacific Northwest). However, the bulb proved to be too large for the lights on the back porch, so I was forced to think of other locations. Lo and behold, this bulb works wonders in my garage! I don’t keep cars in my garage, as it serves as a workshop for wood and other projects around the house. But, when the door is open, bugs get in. This can be pretty annoying, especially when I’m staining or painting. I’ve had loads of small insects fall right into a freshly polyurethaned piece of wood. But not anymore! The zapper (and the very bright LED) does wonders drawing in no-see-ums and mosquitos. I can now work in peace. The packaging indicates it serves an 800sqft area, which is larger than my garage, so it works perfectly there. Additionally, the LED light is super bright and has fantastic illuminattion coverage when hanging as a bare bulb from the ceiling. I was previously using a bare CFL bulb, and the difference is truly astonishing. A small brush is included with the bulb for cleaning purposes. However, I found a quick blast from the air compressor to be a much better way of eliminating the remnants of insects. The brush does work, but the air is more effective, quicker and I don’t have to worry about keeping track of the brush. You’d think they might have included a small holder to keep the brush with the bulb. One added bonus is that the light does not need to be on to use the zapper. Overall, a very good idea. I intended to purchase another.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light is turned on when its dark in the room.... Light is turned on when its dark in the room. Gnats still fly on computer screen and around my head so my screen is spotted with them. I just checked the Zapper and I do see 50 or so gnats that the light zapped, so I am grateful for that. It is located right next to plants where they may be breeding. Most planters have rocks on top of soil but some still need that to block gnats from hatching.
