Does it work during the day? I have mosquitos and flies during daylight. Thanks

No it doesn’t unless you place something on top of it to block daylight! Even then I’ve been disappointed

Looks like the other one comes with one big stake, this one has mutliple small stakes and a tabletop base you can use to create different configuations.

Are moths getting in and being killed? That’s what I want taken care of.

Yes, smaller moths are. I'm not thinking it's attracting a bunch, but some. The light's just not bright enough I don't think.

Do I need to purchase anything separately for this as replacement parts in the near future like the insect repellant?

Asked by AYSC July 7, 2020

Answers

Hi AYSC, You do not need to purchase anything separately. However, we do recommend the PIC Octenol Lure. The Lure clips onto any bug zapper and uses a formula similar to the Carbon Dioxide that humans give off, luring mosquitoes and flying insects into the zapper. Thank you, PIC Customer Care

It is a solar light. No battery. If you're asking how to replace the solar panel, I think you have to buy a new unit or clean your solar panel off.

How much sq.ft area each torch covers?

Hi Bob, Thank you for reaching out. For ambiance purposes, we recommend staying at least 10 ft away from the torch from all sides. Thank you, PIC Customer Care

Great product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have this bug zapper for sometime now and I can tell it really works based on how many dead/toasted bugs we’ve seen. We love the solar feature, I think it’s really the best idea one can incorporate in this product because it makes it very efficient and convenient to use. I our case we keep it on all the time, and so far it really works great! Love the options too for mounting. Overall, it’s a great product to have.

Super nice!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great for us especially when we do our backyard night date. The flaming LED light is super nice. Just press the little button and it'll turn ON. It's solar powered so it pretty much charged during the day time. There's a plate you can pull out for the bug that get burned/killed on the on this zapper. It also came with a stand if you like to stick it on the ground instead of a table top. This is worth to have especially if you live in FL where it's almost love bugs season!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m so happy I got this one to . It’s very nice it works so good I have mine down in the ground and my bug zapper is hanging from the pole . It’s a great brand and works very good . I love it . I can’t wait to tell everyone about it . I highly recommend one of these for anyone who needs something for mosquitoes. not effective
Just moved to GA and we all know how bad the mosqiutos are here. Wanted something that I did not have to plug in or change batteries so i tried this solar torch. Its been about 3 days now since i turned it on and weve only got about 10 mosquitos maybe. We have had a couple sunny days so i know the charge is full. I dont think this has enough juice for a high insect location. I do have to say it looks awesome at night. Going to try a more powerful plug in zapper and see how it compares.

Hi Crazystang70,

We appreciate the feedback you have provided on your experience with the PIC Solar Insect Killer Torch. We are always looking for ways to enhance our products. The critical thing to remember is that a mosquito zapper attracts bugs. Therefore, you want to place the zapper away from you. About 15 feet or slightly more is ideal. To create a barrier of protection, we recommend placing the zappers 6 feet apart.

It is important to remember your body’s carbon dioxide is the culprit that attracts them to you. The zapper counterattacks it with an ultraviolet light that will electrocute any that get too close. However, you also need to consider wind direction. Mosquitos will zero in on you if they can detect you.

Thank you,
PIC Customer Care
It's a party every night!
The bug zappers work great. Lot's of bugs and the flames look real. Love that I don't need oil or have to worry about fire.

Convenient particularly for areas without access to electricity, and of course a little more "earth friendly" given it is completely solar powered. The aesthetic of the torch is nice - I particularly like using the longest stake - it looks like a tiki torch. The flame effect leaves a bit to be desired - it looks more like dance club lights than a flame, but its okay. My yard might have a bit too much shade as I have not been able to get the run time to last for more than a few hours, but that's plenty for my time outside. Finally I'll add that given it is not a real flame, I feel these are a lot safer with kids running around than tiki torches.

Really nice and for once realistic flame effect..plus it kills some bugs! This torch is great just for its looks without the added benefit of killing pesky insects. The light sensor feature is reliable to turn on at dusk and the interior bulb gives a very realistic flickering flame effect as can be seen with recent LED bulbs in standard fixtures. The light does manage to attract insects including mosquitos but should be placed away from other lighting and people so that it is the main attractant in the area. No one device will clear your yard of mosquitos but it does a nice job. I have it in my landscaping and have used all poles to achieve maximum height. The torch feels a little wobbly at the maximum extent but so would any pole of similar length. I'm really happy I got it.

This PIC solar insect killer torch with LED flame effect is a very nice addition to my patio’s decor. The “flame” is very realistic and very pretty in the evening. The pole could be a bit more sturdy. I just added a few rocks around the bottom of the pole. I would like to get a few more of these for the pretty glow & place them around my patio. This is a beautiful piece and so much better than those blue lights. I definitely would recommend this bug light.

When I first saw this light up at night I was very pleasantly surprised with how neat it looked. The flames look very authentic, especially from a slight distance. I included a short video of it. The solar power feature works very well. It lights up reliably each night and lasts a long time. If I had any complaints, it would be that the stakes do get a bit wobbly if you use all three. You can use as many or as few as you'd like though.

The PIC Solar Insect Killer was not effective at killing flying insects on our patio. After 1 week of nightly use, I never heard it 'zap' anything, even though I personally slap-killed several mosquitoes. After a week, the collection tray had a few small moths, but no dead mosquitoes (see picture). The flame effect of the light itself is unique and pleasing. The solar cell/battery is insufficient to power the LED light through the night, but I got at least 3 hours of light from it every night. I woke up and checked it one night and discovered that the light was off before 6 hours and after getting a bright sunny day's charge.

Hi,
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and experience with the PIC Solar Insect Killer Torch. We are committed to listening to our customers for ways to enhance our products. It was designed to be a bug zapper when flying insects are most active at night. It is recommended to keep away from other competing light(s) and human activity as these can be an attractant for flying insects. Like most bug zappers, it is suggested to be the brightest light for them to see. Please reach out to us at customercare@pic-corp.com for more info and additional usage guidance.
