Questions & Answers

Is there a way to attach the Powertec tool stand to the Wen mobile base?
ByJan 12, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

LeoT, Thank you for your question and interest in our product. We have not tested the POWERTEC UT1002 with the WEN MB500 Mobile Base, so we cannot confirm compatibility or provide a recommended installation method. However, based on the dimensions, the WEN MB500 appears to be large enough to accommodate the UT1002 stand.

Thank you for your question and interest in our company. Unfortunately, due to the design of the leg, casters cannot be attached to the stand. However, the stand can be made mobile by attaching it to a mobile base.

Would this hold my 120 pound anvil? I make jewelry and use the anvil for forming silver and copper.

        Answer This Question

Hello, Jolene! Thank you for your question. The maximum load capacity of the stand is 500 lbs, and the MDF top measures 14" by 25". If the base of your anvil fits within these dimensions, and the combined overall height of objects mounted on the stand does not exceed 60" (152.4 cm) from the floor, you should be good to go. Can the Heavy-Duty Universal Tool Stand be left outside?
          ByMay 21, 2024

          Answer This Question

Hello, Raquel! Thank you for your question. We do not recommend leaving the stand outside for an extended period of time. The MDF shelves can swell and deform under the influence of humidity, rain, and other elements, which will compromise the straightness of the mounting surface. Should you need further support, POWERTEC Customer Experience Professionals are here to assist you. Arrived in perfect shape. At first seems light and flimsy, but when assembled is wire strong and stable. I did not use the mdf that came with it. I used 3/4" plywood instead. Saving the mdf for other projects. A very good value at about $60. The paint seems durable. No cracking while tightening the bolts. Had a stable footprint for the size of the work top.

Easy to assemble and especially liked the top as split halves that can be adjusted to a greater depth for a specific tool. Good value and sturdy materials.

              Not Very Sturdy
I purchased two of the Powertec Heavy Duty Tool Stands with the intention of using them for my Bosch routing table and Ridgid 13” planer. Rated for 500 lbs. should work. However, there was unacceptable flexing in the legs, with the router table installed. The stand would not be stable for my heavier planer and my Wahuda 8” jointer. To improve rigidity, I mounted angle iron supports to the lower legs with ¼” hex bolts and nuts. Now it’s sturdy. Will use Dewalt planer table for other tools.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding the UT1002 Heavy-Duty Universal Tool Stand.

We are glad to hear you were able to successfully modify the stand to achieve the rigidity required for your setup, and we appreciate you sharing your practical solution.

The UT1002 is designed to support up to 500 lbs under normal static load conditions when used as intended. However, stability and perceived flex can vary depending on tool size, weight distribution, mounting configuration, and dynamic forces generated during operation.

We truly appreciate your insights and have shared your comments with our product team for further review and consideration in future design improvements.

Thank you again for your time and valuable input.

A great value. This is a very sturdy, good-looking bench/table that can take a lot of weight. It was not difficult to assemble. I use it in my exercise room to hold my old, adjustable, Powerblock dumbbells. I used a jig saw to shorten the legs. The design of the table made shortening the legs easy. The rubber feet still fit perfectly over the ends. (See Photos)

I purchased this Powertec heavy-duty tool stand for my drill press in November 2016. The drill press is old and quite heavy and I wanted to get it off the work bench and onto a dedicated, sturdy stand that could bear the weight and fit in a relatively small space. I could not find any product on the market that appeared able to do the job at a reasonable price until I found this product at The Home Depot. The price was reasonable at about $50 and it looked like other reviewers rated it favorably and used it to support tools similar to mine so I ordered it on-line. It arrived in a few days and I was able to assemble it in a couple hours by following the instructions and employing ordinary patience. Simple wrench and screwdriver are all that's needed to tighten it up once it's assembled. I was a little concerned about overloading the top boards with drill press so I put a piece of plywood on top of the finished product to assist in supporting the load. I lugged my drill press on top and positioned it closed to one end. The legs of the stand are not exactly heavy duty angle iron, but they appear to be able to support the stationary load. I've used the drill press several times on the stand, and it appears to work fine. I recommend it.

Would have preferred a more sturdy top (replaced with plywood). Over all a good stand. I would buy again if I need another.
