I used this lead surface test kit to test whether the glass in a cooking oil bottle and also the glass in a crystal vase contained lead. The crystal vase tested very clearly positive for lead while the glass bottle tested very clearly negative. The instructions were clear and the process was simple. Considering the amount of material in the kit I feel like the price is a bit high, but not outrageous.

The kit consist of 4 little squares of paper that you wet with water and then rub on whatever surface you’re testing. The problem is that they disintegrate if the surface has any kind of roughness to it whatsoever. Just seemed like a very cheap kit. I think the color did change on the paint I tested but it was very subtle So I’m going to have to go out and get a better made kit. I personally wouldn’t recommend this kit.

This product is totally useless! The kit contains 4 very small test strips. The instructions say to apply a small amount of water on the item that you want to test and rub the test strips all over the item. Every test strip, once wet, fell apart-actually dI solved like a wet tissue, before reacting to the test. Don’t waste your money on this!

Not what I wanted really but it wasn’t the product per say just not what I wanted. I wanted a wand or something you could easily put up to an item and detect lead if present.

Small paper test strips when moistened and rubbed along surfaces simply fell apart. Not useful at all.

Doesn't work - pads just come apart.
I wanted to test some exterior paint. The directions tell you to moisten the pad, then rub over an area where paint has been scraped to ensure that any undercoats are exposed. Well, take a small piece of wet paper and try rubbing that over a broken surface. It just falls apart. After this failure I did some further research, and found out the EPA doesn't even recognize this product. Do some research and go with a different product.
