How do you set up the two test tubes in your home

Asked by: Mary
According to the EPA you need to set up the two detectors 3 feet away from an outside wall and approximately 3 feet up in the air on a level table 6 inches apart from each other

What if you were to paint in a room that was being tested for radon

Asked by: Hoover
As long as you maintained EPA protocol "closed house" conditions, it would not have a dramatic effect on the test.

Is the $40 charge required to get the radon level, or is it for some sort of additional report? In other words, is the cost of this test actually $50 instead of $10?
Asked by: Adam
The $40.00 was for the testing, postage was provided via a prepaid envelope in the test. My results were available online and I printed the document when it was emailed to me.

Even though the test is advertised as short-term and the instructions say to expose the collection tubes for less than 72 hours, my lab report says "UNDEREXPOSED: the test device was exposed for less than 94 hours. Conduct another test to ensure accuracy." So unless you are sure that your test will come back positive, save your money and buy a long-term test kit from someone else.

The radon test kit worked great and the lab got the results back in just a few days. The only complaint I have is the lab isn't accredited so the results weren't accepted by the county commissioner. The results turned out to be the same so it's a great way to find out for yourself instead of paying $275.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use and mail in for the lab... Very easy to use and mail in for the lab work. The turnaround time on the results was very fast as well. My only advise is to be aware that there is an additional processing fee of $40 that doesn't stand out well and is in small print on the bottom corner of the packaging.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short term testing is not advisable Because there are so many variables that affect radon levels, short term tests often give false positives or negatives. The recommended minimum sampling time is 3 months.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not waste your hard earned money My family and I have recently purchased this radon kit. We did everything specified right and sent in our samples in the post paid envelope provided by Pro-Lab. We were recently sent an email that our samples arrived too late and that we would have to do the test over again. They have cashed our $40 cheque for a service that they were well aware would not be analyzed due to being "delayed" and are asking that we do the test again, ie: purchase the test again for $14 +tax at Home Depot and once again send another cheque for $40. I am completely disgusted with this so called "service", and believe Home Depot should not be promoting this product as it is a waste of your hard earned money!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Insanely inaccurate result Simple to use and relatively inexpensive, but really poor experience all around. - Took well over the time indicated on the package to get back results - Results came in at over 9000 bq/sq.m, which is insanely high (200 is the max recommended "safe" level in Canada). - Ended up buying a more expensive digital detector. Test in the same conditions resulted in under 50 bq/sq.m. - Without any interaction with the lab, aside from the email with results, I had little confidence in the quality of this product or of the abilities of the lab. - Would not recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase I want to share my experience with you regarding the purchase of my pro lab radon test kit. I found the product very easy to use I mailed the test kit back to the laboratory in the pre-paid postage envelope they provided to me. The $40 lab fee that what was required is much less expensive than calling a professional inspector. I received my results Back very quickly within one week. I called the customer service department and they were very helpful and responsive to our request for an emailed report to my realtor. It was a very pleasing experience

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stress less transaction Bought a test kit last night when I spotted mold on my tub I quickly went to the nearest hardware store which was Home Depot I asked the person working what I should use to test and they gave me multiple avenues I can go mold armor was one and Prolab was the competition I bought both and let me tell you what a difference it's like two different worlds I sent my results to Prolab just waiting to see what the results are.
