Q:When I bought my home in 2007, they found radon in the ground so they installed a gauge in my basement and said it should always remain at 2. Lightning hit the outside 4 years ago and haven't had the $760 to fix it. Will this detect if radon so present?

    Answer This Question

A:  Not sure the best way to deal with radon is to have a radon vent system a piece of PVC is put down through the concrete into the soil and exhaust fan is put on the top of it and exhausted out the side of your house to make sure it keeps it at a safe level the piece of equipment you're talking about is usually just used to see how high it gets

Not for use in the state of Connecticut! Unfortunately after purchasing this kit, preparing the water sample, registering online and mailing the check and sample to the lab I received an email that due to Connecticut state law this lab could not process my sample and voided my check and disposed of my sample.

Not eligible for use in Connecticut. Would have been useful to know before I ordered it and submitted the sample.

          Pure Incompetence
I took a sample of my well water on 4/26/2023 and sent in the sample immediately. I noticed a charge by ProLab on my credit card on 4/29/2023, so that is when they received the sample. After not receiving any email or other notification I called ProLab and was told the results would be sent to me on Friday 5/5/2023...that's 8 days after the sample date and 5 days after they charged my card. I didn't receive anything and on Tuesday, 5/9/2023 I once again called and finally had them send me the report...13 days later. The test date on the report is 4/30/2023. There was nothing in the report indicating whether or not the results were good, bad, dangerous...nothing. When I clicked on the links on the PDF report to go to the EPA website to help interpret the results, the links were "dead". These people at ProLab should be ashamed of themselves for being so incompetent, especially about something as important and impactful to people's health as the level of Radon in drinking water. Stay away from ProLab.

Purchased above kit and beware! Did the test only to be contacted by the company that due to state requirements, they cannot do tests from CT. There was nothing in their literature or on their website that disclosed this. They notified me they disposed of the sample. Home Depot was great- they refunded the cost of the test
