This is a builder grade door; I didn't realize when my installer offered to pick up a door for me to replace my 25-year-old door that's been cloudy due since the seals failed a few years ago. It slides heavier than my old door and there are slight gaps at the top and bottom of the screen, which could be an installation issue or just my house. My main complaint is the noise it makes when fully opened. The weather stripping hits on the glass making a loud noise that sounds like crunching paper. I'll be looking for warranty service from Ply Gem or else replacing it with a better-quality door.

The door went in easy. The dry wall, paint, trim, and outside putting shingles on took longest. I really like my new patio slider.

This Ply Gem door came warped on the top and side rails. Went through almost a year of back and forth to get compensated without success. Unfortunately I’m left with eating it as they won’t stand behind there products. I get it, it was cheap, but I’ve never seen anything this poorly constructed in every aspect. So there you go; a big fat zero star rating You’ve been warned

4 doors we tried, Home Depot had to eat two of them. The doors and frames are bowed on all of them. No solution yet.

My spouse and I have carpentry skills and have previously installed other types of doors for our home projects. We know what to expect at this price, and the PlyGem sliding patio door met those expectations. If there was a option for a couple of hundred dollars more that was clearly better, I would have pursued it, but the next tier in pricing was above $1000. This door is visually simple and slides open and closed relatively easily once installed and adjusted. What to know if you are a fellow amateur installing these doors: The door packaging is minimal, but there is a solid protector for the bottom flange, so keeping the door right side up for storage and travel should help avoid mashing the other flanges. We picked our door up at the store and rigged the truck bed to brace the door to travel upright. That may have helped keep ours from getting racked out of square by leaning or traveling on its side. I did lose my grip and dropped it a short distance, so not everything has to go perfectly to have a successful installation. The flimsy travel handles didn't help, but removing the sliding door removed a lot of weight and made it much easier to move. I think the stationary panel can be reversed or removed, but the instructions are not provided. A cover popped off of the center post and revealed two tabs at top and bottom that secure the panel to the outer frame. The plastic bumper that protects the slider is screwed into both the stationary door and the frame. I do not see anything else that would hold the stationary frame once all of those are removed, but did not test that. Photos of the tab positions and the bumper are attached to this review. It is summer, so it will be a while before I can comment on the quality of the seals. We filled the spaces left in the rough opening with insulation, and the draft from that gap can be mistaken for a draft from the seals. Again, I see this door as a good value for the money and can be successfully installed with careful transportation and intermediate skills.

The most difficult part of installing this door was removing all the dumb stickers after I finished. Otherwise it's a good product.

Bought this door and installed at the beginning of January. Immediately felt cold drafts at the bottom and right side of door from the inside. As stated in another review, there was a slight amount of caulk sealing in the fixed pane but not nearly enough and done terrible. I recaulked myself and it is now sealed tight. The bottom track area is always very cold. There is a gap between the two panes that needs addressed as well. The quality and care behind this door are very low.

Easy & cheap DIY sunroom! Smooth sliding and well built. locks have to be slightly adjusted to work but that's not unusual. Can't beat this price, period.
