the product width and depth are confusing? If depth is 55" , is that the assembled front to back measurement? And if so, then what is the 42" measurement? can you relate the measurements to the picture some how? thank you.
Asked by: skeeter
I'm guessing the 42" is across because the 55" is definitely the length. All I know is, I'm glad I spent the extra dollars on it, and it fits perfectly!

The Rack is tough! I have been throwing large logs into it and stacking high with a lot of weight on them. They hold up great. Well worth the extra money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Trailer Side Rack Nicely built, good and sturdy. This product is bolted to the top of the tandem trailer's molded, rounded edge. There are no predrilled holes on the trailer, and there are no metal reinforcement rods/plates to keep the bolts from pulling out of the thick plastic. We see that this could be a potential problem and flaw in the design of the two products(trailer and rack) to work together. We have not installed ours as of this review posting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great capacity addition, easy install I ordered the 8272 rail kit at the same time I ordered my HD1500TA trailer, because I knew I wanted the extra volume for light loads. So far, it seems to do exactly what I wanted. I modified the installation a little from the instructions both to make it easier and to make the side rails line up better with the sides of the cart. I also installed the rails while the trailer was hooked up to my ATV; this leveled the trailer and kept it from rolling around. NOTE: per the instructions, you can install the rails "mesh in" or "mesh out", depending on personal preference. I opted for "mesh in" - I liked the looks better and it also made my modified installation possible. My modified assembly/installation process was: 1. Tightly assemble the corner brackets to the front rail. 2. Loosely assemble side rails to front rail / bracket assembly 3. Remove the pair of existing screws, washers, nuts from top sides of trailer. 4. Place rail assembly on trailer and align so that the side rails are as far forward as possible and front rail is centered. 5. Use two C-clamps to hold front rail in place (this is where "mesh in" is important - it would have been difficult, if not impossible, to clamp things in place if I'd gone with "mesh out"). Check alignment of front rail after clamping to make sure it hasn't moved from step #5. 6. Tighten side rail to corner bracket fasteners. 7. Tightly install new center screws, nuts, washers holding side rails to top sides of trailer, in the existing trailer holes. While tightening, I pushed the side rails "in" toward the center of the trailer. At this point, the rails did not line up well with the trailer. Specifically, the rails were straight while the trailer was "bowed out" slightly. The result was that the rear of each rail stuck out past the sides of the trailer. 8. Push rear edge of side rail toward center of trailer, so that the rail is centered on the top edge of the trailer. Since the center screws are tightly installed, this "straightened" the side of the trailer so that the rail is now aligned with the top edge of the trailer. Clamp in place, near the rear of the rail, a couple inches forward of the rear mounting hole / slot. Repeat for other side. 9. Using a long 3/8" drill (I used 18"), drill down through the rail's 4 mounting holes through the top edge of the trailer. 10. Tightly install remaining screws, nuts, washers using the four newly-drilled holes. 11. Remove clamps.
