Q:Can this mailbox attach to the plate that came with the Bristol Universal mailbox post which included paperwork that says post to be matched with A or B mailbox designation?
by|May 29, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  It looks like this mailbox will work. The holes in the floor of this mailbox are 4" x 10" apart. That will line up with the holes indicated on the drawings for this post. I am not sure about the spacing to use the side holes in the mailbox.

Nice size mailbox for homes. Did not come with screws to attach to board but not a big deal.

This mailbox is larger than a standard mailbox which made it easier for the mailman to put packages in the mailbox instead of leaving them outside where they could get rained on. Installation was easy as well. I purchased the Gibraltar Mailboxes Steel Drive-In Post Kit for this mailbox to keep cost down and it went pretty easy. The only issue was the bolts that came with the post kit was 1/2" too short so I had to purchase 1.5" bolts. If I didn't have to run to the store for the bolts the install would have taken only 30 minutes. The white color is very pretty, and the box is lightweight, but sturdy. The flag has a nub on the pivot point to keep the flag up so that it won't fall down in the wind. The box opening hinge is smooth, and the closure of the box is a nice smooth Click to ensure you the box is closed. I'm also very excited that the box is made of plastic so it won't rust like my old mailbox.

            Great Product!
First time that I purchased a home, and needed a Mailbox post along with Mailbox, I order 1). Postal ProWinslow 5 in. x 5 in. Fluted Mailbox Post, in White, 2). Veranda 5 in. x 5 in. x 82 in. Aluminum Post Insert 3). Postal ProHampton Post-Mount Mailbox in Black with White Lettering. Read below for seperate reviews on items. 1). Most mailbox post are supported with a 4x4 wood insert, however treated or not they end up rotting, it is just a matter of how many years, so I decided to go with this Vinyl post (PVC) and an aluminum insert that is used for vinyl fences are gate or corner support I beam, this combination should last for life.. and if you want to change the style, all you need is take 4 screws out, and the post slides ride off the beam. In addition, I really like the 5x5 size as its bigger then standard 4x4 and gives it a better curb appeal, also solar lights are sold to replace the top cap and lets it stand out at night giving it a very nice curb appeal. 2). The I-Beam installation is relatively simple for the ground base, just open the hole to recommended depth, use a level to make sure it is straight, and pour in concrete while keeping it leveled, the top half is a bit more complicated, as the mail post has a small design with vertical lines these hit the edge of the I-Beam and the fix is easy, just had to trim all the edges down about 1/2 an inch, once that is done, the post slides right over the beam. Extra note, this is heavy duty aluminum, it took several blades to cut with a hand grinder, it ate them right up, and I wish the companies would sell these same length as 4x4 Mail-post beams, just takes one more cutting step out of the way. 3). Last but not lease, the mailbox it self, this is also out of vinyl and works great, I haven't had any water leak into it, as well as the latch door opens and closes very snug. It only took about 10 mins top to set it up, the mail post is what brings the mounting brackets, not the mailbox itself (I was surprised to find this out as well). Instructions where really simple and easy to follow. Over all it's a great combo, and I searched before doing this, and was not able to find out if someone had tried it or not (using I-Beam as support), I gave it a chance, and I can honestly say for those DiY guys, this is great for reliability, cost, and maintenance free!

            Mailbox Makeover...
Very good looking mailbox! Made of plastic and expect it to be durable. Had to cut out and install a wood base to mount it to the pole. My former one looked worse than the neighbor's who said he is going to replace his too.
