Q:Is this secure enough to ship a 8 place setting of dishes through a carrier service like FedEx or UPS without fear of breakage?

A: No, I wouldn’t pack it this way. It survived the movers from point A to point B but I am not sure about multiple handling. I would take it to the UPS store. They will pack it and guarantee no breakage. It is much more expensive however.

A: Yes. They pouches are the small bubble wrap and they are premeasured to fit dinner plates, salad plates, saucers, etc. Speeds up the packing time to a fraction (compared to using newspaper), plus the bubble wrap is clean.

A: If you mean the bubble pack, maybe about 1/4". It's not heavy duty but protective enough to pack your dishes.

A: Hi Judi, This product is designed for the flat dishes but I suppose if the bowls are on smaller side, they should be able to fit into the Pratt Retail Specialties Dish Packing Kit.

A: Depends on how many place settings you have. I have 12 place settings so I needed 3 packages. It just depends on how many pieces you have. I had to go back and get an additional box. I wanted to really be sure I have enough packing.

A: Yes bowls are easy, the bubble wrap are pouches you can stick flatware in them or cereal or soup bowls or use them as sheets between even the largest bowls.

DO NOT BUY THIS

It’s absurd to call something a “kit” and then state that you need to purchase another piece to complete it. All you’re getting in this kit are the dividers and bubble wrap -YOU DO NOT GET A BOX - which means this so-called kit is useless. For $11, I can supply my own bubble wrap, dividers and box. The enormous letters on the label describing this as a “DISH PACKING KIT” are deliberately misleading. The text that indicates the need to purchase a box is in very small print. This is pathetic.

DOES. NOT. FIT.

I purchased the recommended box (Home Depot heavy duty small) WHICH IS SHOWN ON THE PACKAGING only to find that it is too small to accommodate the box inserts. This kit is cut to fit a box that is 16 x 12 x12 inches. The recommended box is 17 x 11 x 11 inches. None of the spacers fit as designed. What you want is Pratt product number SMMVBOX. Good luck finding this. There are none carried in stock in my state (Kansas) and they do not show up even as unavailable unless you set your local store to a different state (such as Colorado or Missouri). How far are you willing to drive to buy a cardboard box, assuming you've done the homework to find out that it really exists?

STOP SELLING THIS HD! DOES NOT FIT MEDIUM BOX!!!

If you want to add to the misery and stress of moving buy this kit! Purchase the “heavy duty medium boxes” to go with the multiple kits you bought. Work a long day, juggle all your challenges and get ready for an aggravating night of not being able to pack up your kitchen. Invite friends who are also busy but are happy to help you but now are regretting the decision! They can help you ruin your scissors, and cramp their hands, trying to chop the cardboard down to fit the boxes it instructed you to buy. The dividers and base are about 1” too long and wide. Good times! Home Depot needs to remove this poorly engineered product or change the size of their boxes.

Dishes could be packed safely in different configurations even mixing up sizes. Used some extra paper or bubble to fill a few crevices, and the box felt tight and contained for moving. Used for fine china and serving pieces. You could control the weight and balance of the box better. A little costly, but worth it for fragile items.

Does not fit heavy duty small box!

Size 12” x8”, how does this fit in a 17”x11”x11” box? Only usable parts were the bubble wrap, which makes the bubble wrap expensive. Wasted money.

I was a little disappointed in this item. My dishes were larger than the space the dividers gave. I had to modify how I packed the dishes. Description needs to state the size of the dishes that would fit.
