Q:does this work for the smaller 4 to 6 inch roller covers?
by|Nov 3, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Not unless they are standard core rollers. This tool will not work with what is commonly called "mini rollers", with a much smaller core. Thanks,

Q:How does this work for the Brush? Can't see how to attach it. No instructions.

    Answer This Question

A:  Brushes - insert the handle thru both the outside and inside clamps, so that it is held securely. Then pump the handle on the other end to spin the cylinder. Rollers - slide the roller cover over the outside clamp, so that it is held securely. Proceed as before to spin the cylinder. A:  It can be difficult. The solid end of the brush gets pushed up into what I call the metal tongs which seperate when it's pushed up and and slides into the smaller holder. Once inserted, you pull the handle and spin the brush. It works really well once you can get the handle of the brush inserted. I also use a five gallon bucket to control the spray as you spin it.

A:  You slide the handle of the brush between the front prongs and into the slot closest to the body

Q:I just went to use it for the first time in a while, the inner, twisted, shaft was covered in grease that washed off. when I went to use it it was difficult to pull, as if it is slightly rusted on the inside.

A:  Did it get wet? The internals cannot get wet as it'll rust.

A:  I was fortunate in never encountering such a problem. To clean the entire assembly, I would use WD40. Instead of using the usual spray bottles, I use the 1 gallon WD40. It is less expensive than the spray bottles, it is large, thus not as easily mislaid as the spray containers. This is not a lubricant, thus the use of light oil, sparingly, applied to the "twisted shaft" of the paintbrush/paintroller mechanism keeps it lubricated. If you store it wrapped up in a piece of cloth, it will not cause further aggravation.

A:  You should be able to put petroleum jelly on the shaft to assist. I never have had that problem though. I have never immersed the entire thing in water only the brush or the roller.

Q:Can I clean a brush/roller by spinning it with this device inside of a bucket filled with water (latex paint)? Everyone here says you still need to wash the brush first. What's the point then?

A:  You will need to remove the excess paint first. It also is used to spin the roller to remove excess water after cleaning off latex paint. Mike

A:  No. The best way of cleaning latex paint is by washing the brush well under running water, thus getting most of the paint removed. The real beauty and brilliance of this simple paintbrush spinner is utilizing the centrifugal force with the spinning, which removes most of the remnant paint which always hides at the base of the brush (near the metal piece). Then I use a bucket of clean water to further clean the brush by immersing, removing and spinning a few times.. Incidentally, to collect the runoff from the brush I would use a 5 gallon (empty) bucket. Even better, put a liner in your trashcan with a 30 gallon (or larger) liner. The small amount of water will quickly dry and your trashcan is ready for use! I have brushes over 50 years old, perfectly usable.

A:  Yes. Recommend you do it outside. You'll need several water changes and leave your paint clothes on.

A:  I usually use it to dry the brush and roller, but yes. Just do not immerse the entire device in water.

                Perfect for cleanup
The roller cleaner made cleanup very fast and easy. The roller itself fit on easily and when held in a bucket cut down cleanup time by half making it easy to move on to the next job quickly.

I first bought one of these three or four years ago. It soon became such a valued tool that I can't believe that I lived without it all these years. Yes, you still have to spray, soak, and comb out your rollers to help dilute and lossen the wet paint. But not only does this product allow you to hold the roller still and in one place and rotate it easily while you're spraying and combing it out, but when you spin the roller, this product removes the majority of the dirty water. Just make sure you have a nice deep sink handy when you do this. At the end, when the water is running clear, you spin the roller and it is almost dry. The roller will completely dry quickly and, quite frankly, most of the time, it is ready to go again right away if you need to do more painting. This product can be used for brushes, as well, but I primarily use it for rollers. The one I originally purchased has been used to death. Nothing lasts forever, and it no longer works as smoothly or reliably as it once did. I just logged on to buy another for when the one I have finally gives up the ghost.

                      Great innovation.
This is a a great idea for easy cleaning of both roller covers and brushes. Spinning all the paint out and leaving my roller and brushes ready to go again. Brushes fit into the self clamping center while roller cover slip over the outside for the cleaning process. This has a twist in place lock for when not in use. This saves so much time and water and is versatile.

The tool to clean up at the end-of-day
The Brush and Roller Cleaner is a simple tool which solves one of paintings biggest issues. cleaning the tools you use. While I have a Ryobi Brush Cleaner/Conditioner, it does not dry out the brush for better storage. The Brush and Roller Cleaner allows me to use centrifugal force to extract the solvent from the brushes; however, I have always had trouble with cleaning rollers, I was always having grab and rub the roller and missed getting all the paint or cleaner out. Now I can use the centrifugal force in the solvent to assist in cleaning the paint out as removing the solvent from the roller itself. If only used for cleaning the paint roller alone the device is well worth the purchase price 10 times over. I blotted the roller with a paper towel after spinning dry and did not need multiple towels. A half towel did the job. Be sure to keep the red storage clip for storing the device.

how do you live without one of these if you want to clean a roller. My tip - three buckets - one to do the initial clean, one empty to spin out the paint, and one clean water to do that final clean before a spin. Dump/refill buckets as needed. I cleaned 6 rollers in about 20 minutes with two bucket changes.
