Answer This Question

A:  This is a very firm scraper so it should be able to complete the removal of the dry flex seal from concrete.

A:  The scraper is excellent for removing wallpaper, paint from windows and scraping residue off subfloors. You may also want to consider The QEP 62970 3 in. Stainless Steel Chisel Scraper which offers a hammer end to be used to add power while scraping. This durable scraper is a multi-functioning tool that is ideal for removal of paint, adhesive and debris from most surfaces.Stainless steel blade is rust resistant and strong, the hammer end offers the user the ability to add power to whatever is being removed with the tapered scraper edge.

Q:Would this work for scraping a popcorn ceiling.
      by|Jul 10, 2020

      Answer This Question

A:  The product may work, but I have some concerns. The tool's handle has a light-weight cushion. If you plan scraping an entire ceiling using a 4 inch wide blade will take a considerable amount of time. If used, I suggest buying some replacement blades. Consider the time standing on a ladder, a sore shoulder and a blister on the palm of your hand. Assuming the ceiling material beneath the popcorn is dry wall, I think there is a good possibility of gouging the underlying material. Suggestion: I note HD stocks several types of floor scrapers with longer handles and changeable 14 inch and 7 inch blades. I also note HD has three and four inch scraper with larger handles that might be more comfortable. They also carry a twelve inch "popcorn Celling Removal tool, but it may not work since you note the "popcorn was painted over," making it tough to scrape. Good Luck with the project. Suggest wearing a dust mask and gloves while working. *Tool images from HD online website attached for reference.

A:  Good pick...sharp edge so it scrapes well and overall length allows for 2 handed, assertive work when needed

Q:Would this work to remove silicon rubber in a fish tank?
      by|Apr 12, 2020

      Answer This Question

A:  I bought this to remove rubber from a bath mat that stuck to the floor and it worked great. I would not use it in a fish tank because you have to use some force to remove the rubber and I’d be afraid the fish tank glass would break.

      by|Apr 13, 2020

A:  I may work but depends on the size of the tank. It may be difficult to reach corners and other areas. Although the tool's description user the term "razor" it is not like a scraper that uses a single edge razor (shaving) blade. I note HD carries a Stanley 1 1/2 inch Razor Scraper Model #28 500.

        by|Jul 13, 2020

A:  Yes. I used it to remove silicone from a glass top range.

        by|Apr 15, 2020

A:  The 4 inch scraper is excellent for removing wallpaper and paint from windows. This tool could be used for your project depending on the size of the aquarium and precision of the user.

          by|Apr 13, 2020

A:  I believe the QEP 4 in. Wide Razor Scraper and Stripper. would work well for this project. The long handle and secure blade should be conducive to your need. I would test first but the scraper/stripper is easy to use so you shouldn't have any issues removing your silicon rubber in your tank.

              This things takes a beating
We have resin that didn’t cure right that we are putting in on a countertop, so we have to scrape and redo this sticky mess. This scraper went thru the resin cured and uncured. It eventually broke after I pounded it enough with my hammer. Fixing to go get another to finish the job.

great for removing carpet glue from concrete
this was really great for removing carpet glue from the concrete floor. it also removed any carpet pad that was left. the floor was still stained, but smooth as the rest of the concrete. I would definitely recommend it. I did the border of half of my living room in about 15 minutes. it's really easy to use. just be sure to unscrew it and flip the blade before and after using it, bc from the store, it comes with the blade side against the tool handle, so it needs to be flipped. hold it and an angle and use small scraping movements to get the glue up.

                  Wonderful Scraper
The QEP 4” Razor Scraper is all steel construction, except for the plastic grip handle. Especially liked the 4” razor which made the scraping so much easier and it's replaceable. After soaking the paper remnants with water from from the vinyl flooring, it was just a matter of an hour or so with the scraper. The only gripe I had with the scraper was that the plastic handle kept turning while I was working with it. Will glue it to make sure that it won't happen on the next project. I would recommend this tool for a small project because of it's size.
