What's the proper way of attaching this box to a wall stud (wooden)? The holes on sides are too close to the front edge. Do I need a bracket? (I have a number of those boxes available and I'd like to use them). Thanks!

I started by selecting a 30A shallow single flush mounted outlet (HD Item Number 1002-623-097). This site recommended this box to go with, and a cover (HD Item Number 000-614-578). I can see how the cover will tie to the outlet, but there is no way to secure the outlet or the cover to the box without drilling a hole in something... I recognize that a floating outlet is a recipie for disaster, so now what? I know none of the elementary tricks of the trade. Did I buy the wrong combination of stuff? Or is there a safe solution/ common practice that I have yet to learn?

As the manufacturer of the box, we cannot speak to the cover you selected however the receptacle purchased needs to be mounted and fastened directly to a raised industrial cover, like the RACO #830C, then the cover is attached to the 4 square box using the (2) 8-32 screws. For technical assistance please contact us at 480-921-7552 ext 1003 and we would be happy to walk you through the process.

Does this box have a ground screw for the bare copper wire that is in the Romex 12/2 grounded, which will be spliced with 2 other bare copper wires? If not, what about the screws for the cover, can those be used for grounding the metal box? It needs to be grounded(connected to the bare copper ground wires), right? Thanks in advance Bill
Asked by: William
This box features raised ground however the ground screw will need to be purchased separately, the screws for the cover cannot be used for grounding. We offer two ground screws, a 4-way combo head screw model #998 and a slotted head screw model #973.

How would you mount outlets or switches in this box? Most plastic boxes have threaded bosses at top and bottom.

A cover is needed to mount devices. We offer a wide variety of cover configurations, however if you're looking for a simple, flat, two device cover we recommend model #791.
