Questions & Answers

Does this also attract bees or is it safe for bees?

Asked by Mammabearshepherd September 14, 2020

It will also trap bees

Why does this have to be 20 feet away from nest? I wanted to hang it above the nest about 6-8 ft away.

Asked by Clocks September 11, 2020

if they can see the nest that is where they will go. 10 feet away works.

Does this trap kill the yellow jackets?

Asked by Joe July 27, 2020

no it didnot. i returned it!got my money back!

does it capture hornets?

Asked by beeguy July 20, 2020

No, you need a different bait for that. I am going to buy another one of these traps, and try apple cider vinegar as the attractant. I will trap yellow jackets in one, and hornet/wasps in the other.

We have paper wasps. Will this work for them?

Asked by TH52 April 22, 2020

Does it matter if the rain water gets into the trap through the top?

Asked by YJTerminator May 17, 2019

I have mine hung under the eves and have not had a problem with the small amount of rain we have had this summer, however, due to the design with the entry holes in the bottom, the water should just run out at those holes or the lower vent holes.

How do the wasp enter? Thru the bottom holes? If so, can’t the wasp easily escape?

Asked by Homedepotfan April 16, 2019

They don't have to escape, because this garbage can't capture them.

Where do the wasp enter, the bottom holes? Can’t they exit from the holes?

Asked by HomeDepotFan April 16, 2019

Once they enter the bottom holes completely I have not seen them exit, however, while they are transiting through the hole and have not entered the trap then I have seen them back out but they usually make another attempt and enter the trap completely.

Can you hang it or do you set it on something?

Asked by Eroc66 September 5, 2018

Hank it in a hook anywhere in your yard. Follow the direction that come with the product.

Does it come with attractant?

Asked by Kikilee3 August 1, 2018

It does come with attractant in a little pouch you squeeze onto an included cotton ball. It doesn't last long. After 2-weeks or so, go get: it will work AMAZINGLY well and lasts at least 10-weeks. Mine is usually still catching them close to 4-months later, but at a slower pace - though that may be because I've greatly reduced the number of them in the area. I have 6 traps arranged along the shady side of my lawn and they make a huge difference so I can both enjoy being outside and not having them building nests under the eaves. (note, while I have never caught even one bee, I have also never caught any wasps or hornets. make sure you know what insect is your problem)

This trap is working well in our backyard! We hung it at night from our pegola using a zip-tie. By noon the next day, we have already caught about 25 yellow-jackets. Just ordered a second trap to hang on the other side.

Bee free, incredible
We put this trap up and in seconds the yellow jackets were swarming the trap. This trap was set up in our yard and not next to a hive. This photo is less than 24 hours from time we put it up.

30 Yellow Jackets in 30 minutes
It caught about 30 yellow jackets in the first half hour after hanging it from a tree in the back yard. Note that packaging info clearly states that it traps yellow jackets only, not wasps nor bees. Works great if you know your pests are yellow jackets. Going back tomorrow to get the 10-week attractant capsules.

Best summer investment
Its amazing how many Yellow Jackets end up in the trap. I never knew there were so many around until I started using the rescue trap.

So far so good!
I was a little hesitant to buy this since there were many one star reviews, but I’m glad I did ! I’ve only had it hanging for maybe 6 hours and it’s already caught about 10!

So many dead yellow jackets
We’ve been using these for a little over a year now and they are amazing! We use the 10 week bait cones to avoid having to change so often. We bait at the beginning of spring, mid-summer, and early fall and haven’t had any more problems with them!

It’s doing it job luring them away from the house

This is fabulous!
A few days ago I noticed yellow jackets flying around the overhang of my house. I bought this trap and it is amazing! I put the trap out mid-afternoon. Within a few hours the trap had caught 8 yellow jackets! By the next morning, there were at least 8 more! As long as you place the cotton ball and pour the enclosed liquid on the cotton ball as the directions state, and you have yellow jackets, this product works!

The best I have found!
I've been trying all kinds of traps due to never ending supply of yellow jackets in my yard. I've been using these for about a week now and I like them so much I keep going back to Home Depot and getting more. I am not using the attractant that comes in the package. I prefer the 10 week refill right off the bat. Also, I am using some oven roasted deli turkey on the stakes inside. Tons of yellow jackets are swarming the traps and my favorite part is they are picking off flies as well, but they are not killing any bees. As for my location I am in Michigan and I am in the city with some trees and lots of flowers. Temp has been in the high 80s, low 90s for the last week. Just installed a pool which seems to be attracting some of the younger ones to their own death trap.

Attracts but doesn't trap
The the trap is ineffective it attracted thousands but they just swarmed around it and never went inside I caught one I saw thousands. Hmmmmm. My old trap is bigger and I used food rotting chicken. It caught tons. Not sure if the size of the trap had something to do with it. Intere-sting. No pun intended.
