Thankfully, no. Fungi and bacteria are responsible for decay. Water, oxygen, moisture, and organic matter create an abundance of these organisms at the griundline surface. Oxygen depletes as you move into the ground. This is why we are always focused on protecting the groundline. The treated post can easily manage the reduced decay pressure when wrapped. The ROTBLOC 4X4 WRAP only works with 3.5"x3.5" nominal treated posts. Our 6X6 product is a "sheet" designed to accommodate a number of applications and post post sizes. This is your product! After the 2" overlap, you can continue wrapping or trim to length with a utility knife.
All ROTBLOC PRODUCTS ARE DESIGNED TO DOUBLE POST AND POLE SERVICE-LIFE FOR THIER RESPECTIVE APPLICATIONS. UNTREATED POSTS INHERENTLY AND GENERALLY DONT HAVE THE SERVICE-LIFE OF TREATED WOOD. IN OTHER WORDS, LIFE EXPECTANCY IS RELATIVE TO WHAT POSTS YOU ARE USING. TIP, IF YOU CHOOSE UNTREATED IT IS BEST TO USE A ROT RESISTANT VARIETY AND MAKE CERTAIN THEY ARE DRY. WET POLES WILL NOT LAST VERY LONG IN GROUND REGARDLESS OF SPECIES.
