Questions & Answers

can you cut tile ?

can you cut tile ?
Asked by: maytes
Hello Maytes. We have several options for tile cutting, they are Model# TC401, Model# WS722. You should not use your table saw to cut tile. Thanks for your question!

How hard is it to rip 2 1/2" strips off a 4×8 sheet of plywood? Would it be wise to get a saw with a larger deck

Asked by: Dandy
If you are doing this alone or even with an inexperienced helper, I would suggest building an "L" shaped assist table. Picture a upside down L. The longer left side will support the ply as you cut and the smaller arm will support the "falloff" and the ripped piece. Remember to use a push stick!!

Can this be used to cut Laminate flooring?

Should a smaller blade be installed to cut 12mm laminate?
Asked by: Diyer31
I bought this saw specifically for my laminate floor project. I used the blade that came with it and it did a beautiful job. For a laminate floor you have a gap of about 1/4" along the edges of the wall to allow for expansion and to hide those you put down baseboard so even if you had nasty cuts they'd be hidden under the baseboard. This saw made beautiful cuts and all kinds of blade heights. Ripping laminate was a breeze too. The only places your cuts might be seen is the transition through doorways so take you time with those. I'd sometimes use cardstock and cut it to fit around door openings with odd angles (not perfectly square) then transfer that to the laminate flooring (use a Sharpie which can be wiped off with alcohol).

Does anyone have a problem with the locking lever? Mine wont lock in place.

Asked by: atlhky
YES! And I'm going to return it if can't get it to hold. It tightens but still moves. I may be naive, but this seems like it could be a safety issue, not just a precision problem. I'm uncomfortable with my blade changing angles while I'm cutting. I'm also baffled while the height wheel and lock are so close, it even makes turning the wheel more difficult because I keep hitting the lock.

15 Amp 10 in. Table Saw is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 663.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great place to start This is my first table saw and first experience with one, I bought this a couple months ago and for the price it's fantastic. I don't do any major construction this is simply for learning and hobby purposes in my case but even without prior experience it's high and low points are fairly clear. Motor seems nice and strong, so far no bogging down on any cuts (even multiples), Table is a bit on the small side when cutting long 2x4's, and the legs are a bit too light, (when I turn it on the whole saw jumps and moves roughly 1/2-1 inch) otherwise it's stable on a flat surface. Fence is a real pain to get straight but it's solid and accurate. Safety equipment is fantastic. My only real concern is the assembly for the blade seems very flimsy and easy to damage ( not sure if this is upgradeable). But overall it does everything I need it to without any issues and with a little bit of knowledge, the small things wrong with this could be easily polished out, but for the price this is exactly what I needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Entry Level Product This is an amazing entry level product, at an unbeatable price. I purchased this to build backroom shelving in a Ralph Lauren store; literally hundreds and hundreds of shelves were make using this low cost table saw. Assembly was quick, and the saw performed perfectly through hundreds of cuts in a short period. While this is an amazing tool; it's not suitable for precision or aesthetic work. You cannot build furniture with it, cabinets, or fixturing. This tool is the best mobile / job site rip saw on the market; second to none in price and performance. For my project, I went through the supplied blade very quickly. I was cutting hundreds of think maple shelving; and it came to a point where the motor was just too hot to run - and by that I mean it was about to melt out of it's plastic housing. I replaced the blade with a $10 rip blade from Home Depot and never experienced the issue again. Unless you're purchasing this product for precision or aesthetic work; you're going to be very happy with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great DIY Saw! All you ever hear when you buy a cheap tool is "you get what you pay for." Well, there are certainly parts of this saw that make you think, "yep, what I expected". Those include: -The stand is very difficult to assemble. Holes don't align properly. -The body of the stand is very flexible plastic. Not near as sturdy as you'd want -The handle for the wheel to adjust the blade height installs poorly and is very wobbly. That being said...there are a lot of things about this saw that you'd never expect for $129. The saw cuts perfectly. Rip cuts, cross cuts, beveled or not, are all precise and smooth. I've seen several people mention the rip fence being hard to level, but I haven't had any problems with it. The one thing that was slightly irritating at first was that there is a slight height change from the end of the throat plate to the end of the saw body. It requires a slight lifting of the already cut end of the board to continue all the way through. Once I'd been through a few pieces I was doing it without thinking about it though. I'd highly recommend this saw to anyone looking to use it for weekend projects and not wanting to spend $300-$500.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It works great... until something breaks. The power button just died in between cuts randomly. Hu... It works great... until something breaks. The power button just died in between cuts randomly. Huge inconvenience as I make products to order and now have to get them cut at my dad's house (where his age-old Black and Decker still works fine) while I wait around 5 weeks for this repair. I'm lucky I was able to locate my online receipt and that it falls within the 3 year warranty (7 months till 3 yr mark). I have bought a lot of Ryobi products and noticing cheapness on this and the jigsaw which I will seek warranty repair as well. I guess you get what you pay for. Also the design is kinda stupid. The angle adjustment needs work too because it gets stuck behind the saw wheel (that raises the the saw from the bed) when you actually use it to bevel a cut. I struggled to get it out, and now its loose and slightly stripped b/c it's made of plastic. I wish I would have spent the extra $50 or so for a more quality tool. I really hope my more expensive all-electric lawn equipment by Ryobi doesn't suffer the same fate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent, but don't expect perfection The main issues I have with this saw are as follows: 1. The fence is loose and when you clamp it down, can be slightly oblique to the blade. 2. The insert dips below the table, causing cuts to be inconsistent. Ryobi also didn't make any way for users to adjust the height of the insets in the event of encountering this problem 3. The table top material is kind of sticky and doesn't allow for a very smooth push across the table. 4. The protractor-ish tool (not sure about the name) is cheap plastic and wobbles along its railing. It's also impossible to use clamps to hold any boards to it while cutting. It's just not the best design. I'm probably going to take a loss and sell this to buy something with a little higher quality so that I can get some perfect tongue and groove joints. This just allows for too many missed angles and sloppy cuts. I guess you could say that this table saw "just doesn't cut it".

No its not going to be the same precision as a $600 table saw. But it doesn't cost $600 or weigh 600lbs either. Plenty good enough for most uses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great saw but... ... Great saw but... I needed a table saw to rip down some window trim into narrower pieces. This saw does a great job of this. It cut true and straight with little or no slowdown in rpm. Very capable saw for the DIYer. HOWEVER, it is designed to eject copious amounts of sawdust onto the operator, the internal mechanism for raising/lowering blade, from the underside and through the slots for adjusting the angle of the blade. A plastic garbage bag held by magnets onto the inner frame under the saw helps with the underside but I had to tape a paint roller tray liner over the front to keep 70% of the sawdust from blasting me. Even then it was too much to walk inside the house without blowing sawdust off first...every time...Poor design
