Questions & Answers

Can I use this also to simply blow compressed air?

For example, blow out dust from a computer keyboard.
Asked by: Hduser
Is the high volume inflator side on this as good and as powerful as the Ryobi Model # P738? Do they both come with the same accessories for the power inflator side? (Not tire fill.) Store SKU #1002309571 Just figured if it is, this would be the better choice. Thanks

Customer Reviews

18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Dual Function Inflator/Deflator (Tool Only) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1011.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from UPDATED REVIEW: Ryobi stands behind their Products - sent replacement unit - Working Great! PREVIOUS REVIEW: WON"T INFLATE PAST 32PSI - As an owner of quite a few of the Ryobi ONE+ Portable products, I was hoping this inflator would be a great addition to my garage. Unfortunately, I could not get the unit to inflate my tires past 32PSI. Set unit to 36PSI and it bogged down for 3 minutes at 32PSI. My existing Black & Decker unit works great (but only when plugged into DC; the battery in the B&D will no longer hold a charge). Returned RYOBI unit to HD. Still looking for a portable (rechargeable unit) to replace my B&D. UPDATED REVIEW (SEPT/2016): As noted above, the first unit I bought was defective; it would not add more than 32PSI to any tires. I returned that unit and later received communication directly from RYOBI that they would send me a replacement unit. I received the new unit in September. My video review is a demonstration of the replacement unit. As a result, I have changed my ONE Star rating to a FOUR Star rating. Should this unit continue to perform well, I will likely change my FOUR Stars to FIVE Stars.

I use tire inflators frequently during the year to keep proper air pressure in my vehicles and boat trailer tires. It's so frustrating to have a great compressor fail due to a crappy air hose, which tends to be the weakest link in these tools and was the reason I was back in store searching for a replacement. I tend to prefer corded models because of the number of fuses that you blow with the cigarette lighter variety so I was intrigued by this inflator powered by the Ryobi One+ battery packs. I don't currently own any Ryobi tools so I was going to have to spend add'l $$ to purchase the battery pack. I've used the inflator a few times already and I do love the "set it and start it" feature. Very convenient to start filling one tire, walking away and not worrying about over-inflating. It put 8-10 lbs of air into my tires very quickly. This compressor was also less noisy than my previous inflator, so that was a nice bonus. However, I deducted a star from an otherwise useful product because it's displayed pressure reading is off by ~5lbs. As you can see in the photos, the Ryobi digital gauge says 36lbs vs my Victor analog pressure gauge reading of 30 1/2lbs. I took this reading immediately after having my vehicle in for a tire rotation and balance so I'm confident the problem is with the Ryobi and not my Victor gauge. I'm considering returning for a new inflator to see if a different unit provides more accurate readings.

It is still going strong. One of the best purchases I have ever made. You can inflate bicycle tires to 60+ psi in a couple minutes, Automobile tires pressurized to 35 psi take a bit longer due to the greater volume in the tire. Great features: it's durable, light weight, easy to use, fairly compact and versatile with high pressure and low pressure air available. I use the low pressure air to blow saw dust off my work area sometimes (like a mini leaf blower) and to blow my shop vac filter clean. "Features" to be aware of: It is a little loud. It functions better with higher amp hour batteries. 1 a/h will do ok, it isn't as powerful with this battery and you will run out of power fairly quickly (by the 6th auto tire top off). 4 a/h has more power longer (I've done 12 auto tire top offs with juice to spare). Haven't tried a 6a/h battery yet.

I have used it to air up mattresses and truck and car tires. With a full battery it will do 20psi in a 20 inch tire and still have power to do car tires. It is great to set the pressure and turn it on and walk away. This was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.

I purchased the unit in January 2019 and have used it twice so far to add pressure to a tire that has a slow leak. It's best to recharge the battery after each use. If you already have other Ryobi tools and batteries this is a good choice.

The only complaint is that the gauge is off by about 4 pounds. This didn't effect me because I always check the final pressure with a quality tire gauge.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gasping for Air in six months My compressor was bought to top car and motorcycle tires in the driveway. After less than 6 months it failed to build enough pressure to top off a regular car tire. After reading the warranty it states I must pay for shipping one way to have them send me a rebuilt unit. My unit is very new in my eyes. So I opened up the case and discovered the grease on the compressor piston degraded and causing the piston to leak. There are no parts available so I cleaned and greased the old piston. It seems to be working for now. Having only used this unit sparingly and storing it in a heated garage, I don't hold much hope for it lasting very much longer. Too bad as it is a nice design and easy to use. No parts are listed for this unit and Ryobi will only give instructions on how to get warranty service. I have many Ryobi tools and this is the only one so far that I would rate this low. I hope it doesn't become a trend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient addition for Ryobi One owners This inflator works quite well. -A bit loud, but not unusual for an inflator of this size -Most inflators either use a long cord to a car's power port or need a separate power brick for charging. This one uses a Ryobi One battery; If you already have Ryobi One tools, then you are probably keeping at least one battery freshly charged. -Weight; whether you use the Lithium or NiCad battery, this unit is lighter than other inflators. -Digital pressure sensor and shutoff mean you don't have to switch back and forth between inflating and measuring. -Accuracy; the pressure measurement is not very accurate. Best to inflate car tires a couple of psi over the target, then use a more accurate pressure gage to bring the pressure down to the desired target. -Cost: This unit cost slightly less than other digital inflators. The others mostly had self-contained lead-acid batteries. -Capacity: I inflated four sized medium car tires from about 20 to about 34 psi without hitting an overtemperature shutoff or appreciably depleting the (small lithium) battery. -Speed: Tire inflation is not very fast. The above inflation took more than 10 minutes.
