Great little mower
Used it for year, great little mower, fits through my fence doors. I attached bigtooltrack basket to it, very useful. Mowing a little more then an acre, slight hill. For whatever reason both front wheels let the air out in about a week. If I remember to fill it before mowing, the charge is enough to take care of the whole loan, if I forget, it is good for about 5/8th of it.

Yes I went total electric too
I went from a John Deere 510 to this Ryobi riding mower, first thing I noticed is it lasted a lot longer on the charge than I had first thought. The second thing is on purpose I got it stuck just to see if it would pull out, the same spot on my yard my John Deere would also get stuck... I was able to ride it on out. It is a little tight to get your feet in there but other than that so far it's an excellent purchase

      Great lawnmower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used it for several months and it is great...... The cut is great..... Can not complain about anything.....Son rides it around the neighbor like a golf cart.... So it a 2 in 1....... Much better than a gas lawnmower.... All I have to do is blow the mower off and plug it in......Bagger system is great

After my gas riding lawn mower quit working, I decided to go all electric. I was completely fed-up with dealing with oil, broken belts and I can safely say that I have no regrets. This lawnmower is fantastic. No more major maintenance with engine and moving parts, belts, etc - which was always such a pain to maintain a gas-powered riding lawn mower. This mower does a fantastic job, great power to pull the grass up for a clean cut. This mower does have the power too. I live in a subdivision with a small-to-medium yard (little over half an acre), and I can mow my entire yard twice before it needs a charge. The deck size is also just right to get around tight areas and landscaping. Highly recommend, will never go back to gas-powered lawn equipment ever again.

So my wife got this Ryobi after doing a lot of research on lawn mowers. We went back and forth between electric and gas and finally settle on electric due to the lack of maintenance and fuel issues furring storage. This mower set for about 3 months on its charger during the winter and when time came to mower just turned the key and went. We have about .50 acres and this mower does just fine on a single charge. It’s comfortable and super easy to use. The double bag system which is separate is a fantastic addition. Cut evenly and sharp. Height adjustments are real easy. Only reason for a 4 star and not a 5 is that sharp tight turns the wheel whips a bit which might just be user experience and it does not like steep hills. Wants to lean backwards and lift the front tires. Other than that I love it. Would definitely recommend.

Game Changer - Changed my World
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had several gas riding mowers from several brands. The maintenance on them were horrific. The gas, oil, belts, and batteries were enough to drive a person crazy. I worked on them more than I work on my yard. I bought the Ryobi Electric Riding Lawnmower because I fell in love with their battery electric power tools. It allowed me to get rid of those awful 2 cycle power tools. Now that I have the Electric Riding lawn mower, I wished that I had found it years ago. It eliminates maintenance, oil, gas and the fear "it will not start. There are no belts to worrry about. The only lever is the one that controls the height of the blade. I get more than 2 hours of mowing with a charge. I have never had trouble with high grass or weeds. It just keeps on going and going. When I am not mowing, I am using it as a tractor. It pulls my utility trailor with ease. I would never buy another gas powered lawn mower. This is a game changer.

          excellent machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took delivery of my new mower about one month ago. My lawn needs mowing several times a week during the summer month. I also purchased the bagging attachment. I have now mowed 8 times and my lawn has never looked so good. The cutting speed has produced a perfect cut. I have about a quarter acre of lawn. It used to take an hour with my walk behind mower. I now can finish in less than 30 mins and clear of clippings. The mower is quiet and fast. I have several sloping areas and the mower climbs them with no problem. Excellent quality machine. I am very pleased with the power and performance.

I got 4 cuttings out of my original charge. A total of 3 hrs. I have St. Augustine grass mixed with torpedo grass Very thick. The mower handled it easily. Seat is comfortable. The reverse cutting is a plus. Very satisfied.

          Exceeded my expectation!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't say enough great things about this mower. My yard is about 1 acre and I get a solid 2 mows out of 1 charge. It is VERY quiet which was a huge selling point for us. It beeps when going in reverse which is also a really nice safety feature. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an efficient, low maintenance mower.

Great. So far so good. Only mowed a couple of times but it was a breeeze.... No time flat for the acre. With plenty of battery life left to go. Looks like a golf course. Let's see how it holds up and when it might need servicing how difficult that will be. But as of now it's great. I have several other Ryobi tools and the quality is excellent. They are almost indestructible. Hold up very well and do a good job. So in researching electric mowers I looked at a number of brands but when I saw Ryobi I had to go with it. Just be a little careful on sharp turning though. The steering seems to lock up if moving beyond a crawl when trying to take a sharp turn. It pulls my garden utility cart very easily. In general it is just built so nicely. Very clean design and compact. The easily removable deck for cleaning and maintenance is fantastic. No piles and clumps of grass clippings. Where did they go? Back into the grass to nourish the roots obviously. Great investment. Thank you. (My old gas mower left piles and piles of clippings everywhere and was a nightmare to service. I used to think whoever designed that old gas mower should have lost their job since they obviously never used one themselves.)

Only used it twice. I have a small lawn and it is working great so far. Haven't seen it drop down below 9 bars on the energy meter, even after mowing for an hour. I have a slope in the back that is way more than the recommended 15 degrees (closer to 40) but it goes up and down just fine. It feels a little shaky going up the slope when I get near the top, but it seems to handle it okay. I would never mow across the slope with it. I'm not sure how to handle our Wisconsin winters, trying to keep the batteries charged and not freezing? I may have to remove them and charge them it the basement. Manual says to leave it plugged in all the time when not using it. Is this really necessary when you don't have a huge lawn. Couldn't I just charge it until the green light is solid and then unplug it? I would buy it again. Home Depot's website was great to work with and delivery was prompt and professional.

WILL NEVER GO BACK TO GAS EVER AGAIN! I EVEN DRIVE AN ELECTRIC CAR AS WELL.
If you are in the market for a riding lawn mower, invest the couple extra dollars into this Ryobi electric ride on lawn mower. I got the brand new for 2020 season RM380 50 amp hour 30" cut electric riding lawn mower. I have had it for about 1 month now and did 3 cuts so far with it each cut was a little over 1 hour long and I mowed a little over 1 acre of land. The most impressive part is that, after each mow it only used up 1 little bar of energy, so the battery in this mower actually lasts much longer than what it is advertised which is a great thing! This model being a little smaller has less parts to install, took me less than 1 hour to uncrate it and assemble it. The uncrating of it actually is the most time consuming part if you don't have the right tools. Basically all you are installing is the seat and the steering wheel and connecting the battery plug and connecting the seat safety switch plug and you are then ready to go. Our mower also came to us fully charged which was nice. With this new mower instead of having a switch to select what drive gear you want, there are foot pedals instead, there is a brake pedal on the left side, an accelerator pedal on the right side, the more you press on the pedal the faster it will go, basically like an automatic transmission, and right in front of the accelerator pedal mounted on the floor is a reverse pedal, once you let go of the accelerator pedal the mower will come to a complete stop without even pressing on the brake, and you can just press on the reverse pedal to go into reverse, there is a backup beeper, sounds like a tractor trailer backing up, it is quite funny. The only noise you hear is the 2 blades spinning if you had to compare it to another familiar sound, the spinning blades sound like a running box fan. No ear plugs necessary with this mower, you can have a conversation with someone while mowing with the blades on. The mower also has an excellent turning radius, it is not technically a zero turn, but it is pretty darn close, this mower can make a pretty tight circle in a narrow space, I was pretty impressed. You also have the function to mow in reverse, there is no cruise control in this model, there is also no usb port or storage cradle to hold your phone while mowing. So I just keep my phone inside my pocket and really don't need the usb charger, and for me not having the cruise control feature is not a big deal either. The dual LED headlights on this mower are so bright, they can actually pass for car headlights coming down the road at night. If you have a power outage and you need to some light to see something outside or inside your garage, just turn on the lawn mower lights. This mower also is narrow enough that if you have a garage, you are able to park the mower in the garage and still be able to park your car inside the garage as well. The charge port is mounted in the back of the mower behind the seat, the seat has a little drain hole in the bottom so that water doesn't collect on the seat, which is a nice little touch, the seat does adjust by the press of a handle you can slide it easily forward and back to adjust for your height. The mower also has a warning chime if you get up off the mower and you leave the key on. The mower is also very easy to clean, I just use my ryobi leaf blower to blow off any dust and grass clippings from it. Each blade is powered by its own electric motor, and the wheels are powered by a single electric motor, so 3 electric motors in all powering the entire unit. The deck is very simple and easy to take off, just remove a total of 4 hitch pins, 2 on each side and disconnect a power cable and the deck slides right out. There is no belts, no gas, no oil, no filters, no engine noise, no fumes, hardly any maintenance compared to a gas powered mower. After you use the mower, you clean it off, park it inside your garage or shed and you plug it in to charge, and you leave it plugged in until you are ready to use it again. The charging brick it comes with is wall mountable, it is fairly large in size and heavy. The mower itself can be lifted by hand with 2 or more people if need be if you needed to move it by hand, it definitely does feel a bit heavier than your average gas mower, I assume because of the added weight of the batteries under the seat. The mower claims to go up to 5 mph in forward gear and 3 mph in reverse gear, there are multiple cutting heights and I must say this mower cuts my lawn much nicer than any gas mower I ever used, my lawn has never looked this good in 20 years! I am so happy with this mower and so happy so far with the Ryobi brand, definitely worth the money. I switched all of my power tools and lawn and garden equipment from Craftsman to Ryobi and so far so good. My only concern is to see how long the batteries last, I am estimating a good 8-10 years before having to replace the batteries in the mower, and from what I hear there are 4-6 batteries inside that run anywhere from 120-150.00 each. Just something to think about for the future with electric mowers and battery powered equipment is the life and cost of replacing batteries. The one nice thing about this mower is that even if you don't know anything about fixing or repairing mowers, this is the kind of mower in which you can work on it and replace stuff yourself without needing to take it somewhere to service. You can easily change the blades yourself, and getting to the battery compartment to change out the batteries is as simple as just removing a few screws and popping off the battery cover. One negative so far is that the lighted control panel gauge that shows your how many hours are on your mower and how much battery life is left on the mower is not really visible outside in the sun, you have to use your hand to create a shadow over the gauge so that you can see it, other than that one minor gripe everything else is great. Also the tires on this mower are definitely much smaller in size compared to the tires on your average gas riding lawn mower.

Don't let the compact design fool you, this lawn mower has a lot of power and uses very little battery! No problem going up our hill and though not zero turn, it has a very good maneuverability. It shifts from forward to reverse mow without having to take your hands off the wheel. We were able to fit it in our garage with both of our cars in the garage too (see picture). The ride is also very smooth.

            IS AS ADVERTISED
Easy to assemble and worked well after charging. The height adjustment lever kept kicking out of position, which I didn't notice until the mower began scalping in spots. I jerry-rigged a bunge cord to hold it in place and that solved the problem. So far, I don't notice much battery useage for approximately 1/4 acre.

I bought this mower 13 months ago. The first 9 months was great. The battery life was really good. But then it went downhill, and quickly. At 14 months, the battery only has enough juice to cut for 5 minutes. Then it dies. Of course, the warranty is only twelve months on the battery. I have a $2500 mower that won't cut.

4 wks after purchase the mower/golf cart is flawless. I bought a gorilla cart to haul with and it’s saved me many miles of walking back to get the tools I forgot. And it mows great and turns on a dime. I’m 5’11” and the cockpit is a little tight but so far, that’s the only negative on the unit. As far as Home Depot, that’s another story. I opted for store pick up of my special order that they did not stock and when my pickup day passed with no notification, I stopped by the store and they told me that it has not come in yet but to come back tomorrow (even though an exact same unit had been on display out front for a week). When I came back, the display unit was gone but mine had magically appeared, after a 40 minute wait (no manual or warrantee info). The employee who brought mine out told me that he actually took the display from the outside front of the store to deliver to me. I was not happy. I went back to customer service to find out about the manual and warrantee info and after another 25 minutes of calls and searching they finally came up with the papers that they had fished out of the TRASH CAN. Customer service person said “sorry about the fiasco” and 2 1/2 hours after I arrived, sent me on my way. I relayed all of this to H D when they sent a email to ask about my buying experience but only crickets. Home Depot gets 1 star!

A little skeptical but now a believer
I love our new Ryobi 30" electric riding mower. It's quiet compared to our gas push mower. I can't wait until it's time to mow and it hardly uses many bars. It's simple to put together and maneuver.

                            Not for smaller lawns
too heavy, width of tires press grass down before mower reaches grass, uneven cutting if you have small hills or increases in elevation causes uneven cutting. If you have flat lot, no extreme curves caused by landscaping this lawn mower would be fine.

Hello, Skippy2 - We are sorry to read about your unsatisfactory experience with the riding mower's performance! Regarding the uneven cut, we'd recommend checking the pressure of the tires to make sure they're properly inflated as over - or under-inflated tires can cause the grass to be unevenly cut. If the tire pressure isn't the problem, then we'd encourage you to check the cutting deck to make sure it's level. If it's not, then check out pages 21-22 of the manual for how to level the cutting deck (manual link below). Additionally, you'll want to check the underside of the deck to make sure there's not any build-up of debris. And if there is, you'll want to clean that off. Another factor that may be causing the uneven cut is the mower's speed may be too fast. So try mowing at a slower speed and see if that helps. Lastly, please look at the blade to see if it's worn, bent, loose, or dull. If it is, then please replace the blade. Hopefully, these suggestions will improve the cutting performance of your mower! But it would be great to talk further and see if there's anything more we can do to try and improve your experience. Would you please be looking for an email from us at reviews@ryobitools.com?

Battery dies, no place to get repaired
Like many of the 1 star reviews, my RY48130 started shutting off after about 10 minutes of mowing. Battery shows full. Less than a year old. I was given a list of "Service Centers" but nobody in my area will repair them and I had to drop it off at the Home Depot Tool Rental. They shipped it to another state and after almost 2 months I received the unit back and it's doing the same thing. Shuts off after about 10 minutes of mowing. So apparently, even the official repair center can't repair these!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this mower for 2 years and absolutely love it. It does a great job and is very strong. We use it to pull our Gorilla Carts loaded with fire wood and it doesn't even know it has a load behind it.
