Q:Does this work with dremel 4300 variable speed? I have the dremel itself but I need variable speed while in the cut? Will this pedal provide me that capability? Basicly what I?m saying is I need both hands but be able to change rpm without having to stop

The variable speed rotary foot pedal by RYOBI is a handy addition to my tools. It delivers on its promise of providing variable speed through foot pressure, and the setup was a breeze. My only wish is that when the foot pedal is attached and no pressure is applied, the tool would stop rotating. However, I recognize this as an issue with the tool's design, not the foot pedal itself, so I won't dock any stars for it. With that said, I find it to be a valuable tool and would suggest it.

What like about it is that essentially does what it is meant to do in terms providing variable speed by way of foot pressure. What I don’t like about it (which MAY be more the tool than the foot pedal) is that the tool still rotates at a low speed even when there is no foot pressure. I would like to be able to lay the tool down when I’m not using it, but instead I have to place the tool back in the holder when not in use because it never stops rotating. Overall I like it though, and don’t regret the purchase.

Works great. Knew about the negative aspect of the product (doesn't fully stop turning when you release foot pedal) from early reviews. Controlling speed with foot is a great benefit for certain projects. Easy enough to turn off when there is a need to change bits.

Does not stop
I had no idea until I read the instructions inside the package that letting up the foot pedal does not stop. It runs at a slow speed with no pressure.
This is the first Ryobi product i have not been satisfied with. I wish I had sprung for the foredom.

Build quality would give it 5 stars. Design in operation is where this foot pedal fails for me. The problem is when in the foot pedal mode on the rotary tool the flex shaft runs at a slow rpm appx 1,000 which means you have to reach up and turn off the rotary tool to change bits. I wish this was put in the description of the foot switch on Home Depot web site. I have other rotary tools and foot pedal tools and they don’t continue to run when your foot is released from the pedal. While this still has some use I think Ryobi missed the mark on this design!! Beware on purchasing this that you will have to turn power off to change flex shaft bits.
