Q:Will the light turn on with the humidity sensor or just the fan??
    by|Feb 17, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  It depends on how you have it wired. The light and humidity sensing features can be controlled separately if they are wired separately. This is the most common and preferred way most people install. Any questions, feel free to give us a call! 1-877-543-8698

Q:can I wire this up to different switches than the one that's included? I don't want the humidity sensor and I would like a timer that gives options for the time duration
      by|Jan 23, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  We recommend choosing another ReVent model without humidity sensing - the RVL80. It is also 80 CFM and has the built-in LED light, but without the humidity. Then you may connect to your preferred timer switch.

You will NOT get what the item describes anymore. The factory is sending the basic $65 fan and tossing a humidity switch in the box. Then charging an extra $150. They use a sharpie on the box to remark it. NO quick connects, NO mounting brackets, and NO instructions for humidity switch. I returned the item, and got another one identically marked from the factory. You will NOT be able to quickly install it. You will need to cut a hole and go in the attic unless you are replacing the identical unit. I had to build my own framing to install it due to the tabs designed for dry wall install only. Not everyone has a perfect drywall ceiling in the specified thickness. Also, you will need to know how to do electrical work to install the switch. You can download the correct manual from their website. Lastly, the humidity switch is too sensitive. I turned it down to the lowest level, but it will still come on if it's a humid day, or raining, and run all day. I am going to either tape over some of the humidity sensor vents, or uninstall it. Get the $65 model and save yourself money, or buy another brand that can mount with brackets. Only plus is it's quiet, but it's not 0.5 sones quiet. You can hear it running, close the door if you don't want to hear it. Probably between 1 and 2 sones.

          Response from ReVentSep 26, 2023
Thank you for your feedback. This all sounds very strange, so much so that it almost sounds as if you purchased a box that had previously been returned and missing some of the original parts. All our models include the SheetLock mounting tab system AND the traditional mounting brackets. All models also include a full instruction manual (also can be found online in pdf format) with contact info for our support team if further help is needed by a live professional. We encourage you to give us a call and we will help you set up the humidity function to properly vent the room without it running too much. We stand behind our products and are sorry to hear your experience has been less than stellar- we want to make it right, so we look forward to your call! 1-877-543-8698 or info@reventfans.com ReVent

            Looks good and works perfectly
It was time for an upgrade replacement for my master bath exhaust fan. I did some checking and this one from ReVent at Home Depot was a great choice. This moves 150 cfm of air with a six inch duct. It has three color settings for the built in LED light and includes the humidity sensing fan switch. So I replaced a builder grade light/fan fixture. Everything I needed for the installation was included. This also comes with “new construction” hardware. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I did the installation and it took about an hour including the wiring. I had two single pole switches controlling the old fixture by a 14-3 with ground wire: 1 for the light, and 1 for the fan. The switch that comes with the unit will replace your existing fan switch. The exhaust ducting is designed for 6 inch connection. I replaced my 4 in flexible duct with a 6 inch flexible duct to accommodate. I believe it looks great and is so much quieter than the old fan. It moves a good amount of air as well. I like the selectable light color also. It made us easy to match the color of the other lighting in the bathroom. I do hope it lasts. Overall, I think this was a good choice and wasn’t difficult to install.

            Impressively Quiet
I've lived with a builder's basic, 50 CFM fan in our master bath, that is almost 200 CF in volume, for more than seven years. It was obnoxiously loud. I've vowed to replace it for a long time. But, it is ceiling mounted in the 12" space between floors and the long duct to the outside wall in the ceiling bay, between web trusses, was 4" flex. This Revent product was specifically made to ease the necessary replacement and that it did. I had it installed in less than two hours. That included pulling out the old fan, enlarging the hole in the ceiling, figuring how to to deal with a wiring length issue, installing new 6" flex and a wall cap and mounting the Revent fan. I liked that this Revent product was designed to make replacement of an existing fan, where there is no attic access available, as easy as possible. It would also be a snap in a new construction installation. There seems to be a conflict in the manufacturer's information in that on the box, it says this fan complies with CA Title 24 energy requirements. But, the provided manual inside says it does not. Because this is being sold in California, I assume that the manual inside was just incorrectly translated. I also appreciated the included humidity sensor switch. It appears to be identical to one I've installed in another bath, made by a major, electrical product company and that one works very well and has been reliable. If anyone "forgets" to turn on the fan, the rising humidity in the bath from the shower, will automatically switch it on and then off when it is well vented. The only serious set back that I encountered and you may as well in a retrofit, is that the electrical connection is on the same face as the duct connection and the existing NM cable was not long enough to reach. And, I couldn't pull longer wire from the switch in the wall and code prohibits a hidden junction box within that space. I punted and, installed a small, junction box on the top of the Revent fan case itself so that it comes out with the fan if one removes it. The inspector allowed this. I initially wired the fan light to the same switch that the fan is on. But, had second thoughts and tapped the existing, adjacent can light which is on a separate switched circuit. In the process, I managed to break the 30+ year old can trim ring and am now having to find another. I'm considering eliminating the can light altogether as it's redundant to the fan light and only 12" away and installing a round junction box with painted cover in its place to fill the hole. I also like that the LED light can be switched between three, light colors: 2700K, 4000K and 5000K. Most of all, we like the quiet! The old fan was rated at two sones and it was obnoxiously loud for a master bath connected to a master bedroom. This Revent is rated at 1.3 sones so I was apprehensive about the noise level. But, it is at least three times quieter than the old fan. One cannot hear it outside the bathroom and, even in the bathroom, it isn't annoying loud. That can only mean the fan will end up being run longer and thus, keeping down the moisture levels in our bathroom. I would highly recommend the Revent line for those looking to replace an existing bath fan. I would only caution that one thoroughly investigate the specs, sizes and clearances of their existing fan - if they have one - first and plan accordingly. Each case will be different.

            Quiet, powerful and modern
The easiest installation by far! I’ve installed a few bathroom exhaust fans in my day and I must say that the SheetLock design is genius – I’m very impressed. New install or a replacement, this will fit. Just make sure the opening isn’t too big to begin with. Love the LED brightness and color selection. Finally able to choose the color that is just right using the built in switch. The LED light is also dimmable which is great for nighttime. However a separate dimmer switch would be required as this model or use the existing switch for regular On / Off operation. This model RVLH150) comes with an automatic humidity control switch which operates the fan via a humidity sensor. There are two adjustable dials (under the switch cover) to control the fan timer and humidity sensitivity. This way the fan operates automatically based on the amount of moisture in the air. I also quite like the concealed vent design with no visible grille. Just a sleek cover with an built-in LED light. Very happy with this bathroom exhaust fan. Quiet, powerful and modern.

            Lots of features. Good quality
The is a great unit with lots of features. It has a color-selectable led light (3 choices), moisture sensing switch that can also be used by pushing for on/off and has a pretty easy install with a great cutting template. The template is a nice sturdy card board with slits where you cut as opposed to a paper you tape to the ceiling and hope it stays. It’s quite a bit bigger than the one I replaced which is great because it’s obviously easier to make a bigger hole. Be sure to take the shipping tape off the flapper - that’s my only complaint but totally my fault. Great fart fan! Easy install

            The best of the best
There are only a few reliable brands of bathroom exhaust fans. And when replacing an existing fan, ReVent makes the installation the metric by which all others are measured. I could explain why, but just watch their videos-- because the included manual is 29 pages. As for this particular unit-- it is the best of the best of the best, sir! 150 CFM and only 1.3 sones. This unit detects humidity and will auto start. It comes with "The Control" which manages the operation of the fan. In my case, this will wait for installation in spring as the Minnesota winter makes an attic an unfriendly place to work; I will be passing a new wire. Also, you will need a 6-to-4 reducer if the existing duct is four inches and this is made for a six inch duct.

            Powerful but quiet fan
I have been using the ReVent brand for about a year now. It is easy installation overall and works and looks great. It is for up to 150 square feet. I comes with its own adjustable LED light. You can set it at 2,800 K, 4,000 K or 5,000 K depending on your preference. The electrical is quick connect clips. All the mounting brackets are ready to go with nails already installed on the adjustable braces. It can mount between 16" OC joists or 24" OC joints. It also come with an optional control switch for separate fan and light controls. It does have a 6" damper instead of the usual 4" damper. You will also need a second power wire to the fan for separate light and fan controls. I also comes with a simple and easy cut out template as well as a thorough instruction book,

Adjustable lighting and humidity sensing is perfect for a kids bathroom
My daughters never turn fans, lights or any other electronic off. It gets old, no matter how many times I ask they leave the lights on. When it came time to get a new bath fan in my kids bathroom I knew it when I read it, the Revent RVLH150 with auto humidity sensing and adjustable LED lighting was the way to go. For me installation was a bit of a challenge because the old fan was long and I needed to do some drywall touchup to get it to fit in my space, but once we got it installed I was extremely happy with the operation, it’s pretty quiet and the light output is great for a small bath. AND, as I mentioned before, the auto-sensing timer is perfect as the unit shuts itself off when it is not needed. Perfect for when the kids forget how to turn something off!

            Excellent and Efficient Bath Fan
Redoing our main bath for the first time since 1957. This is a perfect fan/light combo with a customizable light temperature (bright white to warm white). 150 cfm squirrel cage fan with a very smooth motor pulls the moisture out of the room efficiently and relatively quietly. Easy for reinstall, however this one is going into new construction as we are demo'g the bath to the studs. Great value for the money!

            Great High Volume Exhaust Fan
ReVent 150 CFM Easy Installation Bathroom Exhaust Fan with Adjustable LED Lighting and Humidity Sensing The ReVent 150 CFM Easy Installation Bathroom Exhaust Fan with Adjustable LED Lighting and Humidity Sensing can easily be used effectively in a room of 150 sq. ft. The fan comes with several great features, including: A humidity sensor that will turn the fan on automatically when the room humidity exceeds the level set. Also, you can turn the fan on and off manually, or utilize the 0-60 minute timer. Depending on how much light you need in the space, you can set the LED lighting to one of 3 levels- 2700, 4000, or 5000 lumens. Installation will go much more quickly than a typical exhaust fan, using the SheetLock design. Depending on how you choose to use this fan, it can be installed on either the ceiling or a wall. One key thing to be aware of, especially if you are using this fan as a replacement for an existing one- this fan uses a 6” exhaust duct. Typically, residential fans use a 3 or 4” duct. You will have to decide on the potential reduction in efficiency if you choose to use a reducing adapter to fit existing ducting. For new installation, simply use 6” ductwork.
