Does the extension come "attached" or does it come as a separate part with can be attached as desired?
Asked by: BigEarn
Its a separate piece. Initial piece needs to be removed before connecting the extension. The loading height will be higher when the extension is installed.

I have cathedral ceiling from 10 foot wall to 14 feet to peak. Want to install 12 foot sheets vertical not horizontal. Will this work?
Asked by: islandguy
It should work for installing vertical sheets but the bracket that supports the round wheel is thin and bends when raising the sheetrock so i wouldn't recommend this one.

What is the loading hieght with extension installed

Asked by: RHood
I have the same question. What is the loading height with the extension, i.e. how low does it go for loading the sheet, not how high does it go for installation. Anyone know? Someone said the loading height is higher with the extension.

Red Line Drywall and Panel Hoist with Extension is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Engineering Disaster This drywall hanger is an engineering DISASTER! A MONUMENTAL piece of crap!! Wheels wont stay in leg recesses, caster wheel ball bearing falling out (thus it will not track/roll smoothly or straight)! One handed operation IMMPOSSIBLE! If I could give negative 5 stars I would! Its insane how poorly designed this hanger is. Do not get sucked in to purchasing this pretty yellow drywall hanger! There are too many other quality products out there to waste your hard-earned dollars on this piece of junk! Never in 30 years have I seen such poor design and function. HD only allows one picture, see attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extended Sheet Rock Lift I have always been a do-it-yourselfer and done drywall patches; but never anything this big. We built our own 42x20 RV garage with a 12 foot ceiling. My wife and I got started using the lift and with the first four sheets there was a learning curve as with any new tool. The rest of the garage I did by myself with the lift putting 4x8 sheets of 5/8 fire resistant drywall on the ceiling and wall that adjoined the house. This tool is well thought out and sturdy; even with the extension. It is a terrific asset to my tool supply. It will also hold trays of sheet rock mud when I start taping and I can see it helping me put all the lights and ceiling fans back up. Like a tall table for me to use at the top of a ladder. Excellent tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Deal for The Price I purchased this drywall lift, because it included the extension lift. I found other lifts at other sites that had optional extensions, but no one seemed to sell them. I am hanging drywall in a garage with 13 foot ceilings, so I needed the extra lift height. The lift comes with both the standard and extension masts, so you can go back to the standard height lift if you want. Purchasing rather than renting was a better option for me, because I am not doing all the ceiling at one time and have future drywall projects. The box is heavy if you have it shipped, so have a dolly to move it or tear the box open and pull the main pieces out to move it. The shippers had banged the box around pretty good, but it's a drywall lift, so cosmetics was not my concern. Everything was there. The instructions are pretty useless unless you have used one of these before. I suggest going on YouTube and watching videos on how to use the lift if you have not used one before. They are pretty simple, but the videos provide some good tips and one shows how to swap out the extension arm. I have been using 12 foot sheets of 1/2" drywall, with no real issues. A couple of things to be aware of. By adding the extended mast, it raises the lift height for loading the drywall. Unless you are really tall, it will probably mean needing a second person to help load the drywall. Otherwise you may be able to do it yourself. Once the drywall sheet is on the lift, one person can manage it easily. The second thing to note is that as you raise the lift, the cable pulls more to one side and stacks itself. At some point, the cable will slip down to the lower section of the shaft. This will cause the lift to drop a few inches quickly. It is a little unnerving the first couple times it happens, but you get used to it. Just make sure you are not stand directly under it in case it drops all the way down.
