Q:I have three of your 200 W monocrystalline solar panels, and was wondering if this 40 amp solar charger would be enough for the system with two 100 amp hour batteries

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Solar, thank you for contacting Renogy. The Rover Li 40A MPPT Solar Charge Controller can handle up to 520W of solar for a 12V battery bank and 1040W for a 24V system. Please note that if this is a 12V system, you'll end up only harnessing 520W max out of your 600W system. Still, this is more than enough to recharge your 200Ah 12V battery within 4 hours at optimal condition.

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi Buck, Thank you for sending your inquiry and interest in our products. This will depend on your battery bank. So if you decide to have 318 x 4 that would be: 1,272 watts of a solar array. Our recommendation if you choose to go with a 12v battery bank, we recommend a Rover 100a however, if you choose to have a 24v battery bank, we can recommend going with a Rover 60a. Hope it helps.

A year on and this has run my garage with no issues.
I have an off grid garage . I am using this controller with a 160W panel and 100Ah battery to power six 12V 6W LED lights in my garage. This has worked reliably for a year in an unheated garage with Ohio weather. I am now looking to upgrade my system to 24V, an inverter, more battery and more panels. I will not need to buy a new controller because this one is growing along with me!
