Interesting.... I have not had that problem. Maybe you are trying to work it when it's too cold. I hope you know that you have to tamp it HARD, then drive a car over it.

When I opened the bag and poured the patch material on the driveway there were big chunks mixed in, the material seemed very dry and didn't want to bind to itself. I used a tamper and then placed plywood over it and ran over it with my truck. At the time the repair looked fair but not good, now a month later it's crumbling up and coming loose making nothing but a mess. I am going to have to completely scrape the patch material up and remove it and replace it with another product. At least Home Depot was nice enough to refund me the money since there was no way to return it. I don't know if this was an old batch sitting in the warehouse too long or defective but but the product I had was HORRIBLE.

Hi Rick, I am so sorry to hear that our product did not meet your expectations. Our material is dry by design so that sounds like it is okay. In addition we do recommend driving directly over the material in order for it to bind together properly. If there is anything else we can assist you with please don't hesitate to reach out to us at info@roadrescueasphalt.com RoadRescueAdmin

My asphalt driveway, neglected by the previous owner had a long gap at the end which caused my car to constantly bottom-out and water to pool every time it rained. I tried this hoping I could avoid a paying a professional and I am so glad I did. Two weeks after filling it, the patch is no longer sticky and soft and is solidifying nicely. Driving over it as much as you can really is the best tampering tool for this.

Works As Advertised
Excellent product! Not messy and sticky like other products and very easy to apply! Used this to fill a very bad crack between sidewalk and where my driveway was breaking up. Worked perfectly! If only my Home Depot would keep this in the store versus having to order it online and wait for pickup. I do, however, appreciate the great price and the free in-store pickup! Would definitely order this product again for future projects.

This is the single worst product I have ever bought from HD. I can't believe they stock it. I put this down to patch cracks on my driveway that were too wide for trowel patching. Tamped it down and it completely pulverized into white dust which is now being tracked all over by the car and slowly being washed away every time it rains. Complete rip off and waste of my time too. I'm a 51 year-old woman and I have no problem taking on big projects and have sealed my driveway 3x before but this product failure makes me furious.

My purpose for Road Rescue was to create a smoother transition between our newly paved street and my uphill driveway. Although the manufacturer does not recommend Road Rescue for that type of use, it worked remarkably well. Road Rescue is NOT a sticky, tar-gravel aggregate like some other asphalt repair products. It's dry and has an almost dirt-like consistency. It is very easy to work with using a shovel and the back edge of a rake. It hardens once it's tamped down. I used a tamper but the manufacturer recommends that you just drive over it to tamp it down. With Road Rescue in place, I no longer scrape the front valance of my car when backing into my driveway.

Purchased 2 50lb bags via special order from Home Depot. Read sales collaterals material about dry consistency, and air tight bag. Applied with temps in the high 80’s, high humidity. Opened bag and immediately poured into small pot hole. Tamped down with square tamper (see accompanying photo). Worked as advertised, turning gray as it was compacted. Then 5-10 minutes later poured more, from still open bag, into a shallow depression; second application would not compress. Material had already dried out. Description for use should specify use of entire bag for one application, or bag should have a a zip-loc type closure. If package contained smaller packets of material, it could easily be used for multiple applications within minutes of each other. Advise for breakup of clumps is ineffective; dropping bag several times from 12 inches had no affect. Wasted valuable time breaking up clumps by hand. Returned both bags to Home Depot for a full refund. Product needs some tweaking to delay setup time. As it stands, Road Rescue Asphalt Repair isn’t worth the money. At least I got the worst pot hole repaired. Repair survived heavy rain 5 hours later.

Road Rescue asphalt repair is a wonderful product. I used six bags to fill a large hole created when a wind storm knocked over a tall oak tree and took a big chunk of my driveway with it. The hole is about six feet long and 4 feet wide. Six bags covered it nicely and I need two more bags to bring it up from my car running it over, so it sunk just a bit. I like the fact that we didnt need to cut the asphalt to make a clean edge, no, just level the hole and dump it I, smooth it out and run it over.
