This 28" manual tile cutter works great. These score and break tile cutters have been around a long time and are used by professionals because they work good on bigger tile and are actually faster than powered wet saws. This cutter is built well and is versatile in that you can easily cut 45 angles. The cutter wheel is adjustable for perfect scoring and the base is wide and supports both sides when applying the breaking force to the middle raised rib. Works well.

This tile cutter is an excellent choice for a manual large tile cutter. It is easy to set up and use. You can use it anywhere because you don’t need water nor electricity. There is a lot of metal which make it very durable. You don’t have to worry about plastic parts falling apart. I needed a way to cut 24 inch and 36 inch long tiles and many of the other manual tile cutters just could not accommodate the length I needed. I am very happy with the cuts it makes and the ease of use.

After seeing a tile setter repair a broken porcelain tile and soap shelf with a Rubi manual cutter I gave this concrete side porch a face lift with Saltillo tile and it worked great. Can't say how long the cutter will last but they are not expensive and they scored the tile easily and gave me a nice straight edge for grouting. On small jobs I don't think you can beat a manual cutter and I have access to my Nephew's wet tile saw but it is a monster and this Rubi does the job with a lot less fuss and bother.

The tile cutter is made out of cast aluminum and is heavier and more solid feeling than other tile cutters I've used in the past. It comes with 4 rubber feet that slide on to protect the surface in case you're working on a finished floor. The tile cutter can cut up to 28" straight cuts and 20" tiles cut at a 45 degree angle. It's easy to use. The cutter slides easily on the steel guides. The fold out wings help support larger tiles while keeping the footprint of the tile cutter small. There's a large rubber pad on top of the base to which supports the tile while scoring. The tile cutter cuts tiles very well and is easier to use than cheaper tile cutters I've used. It is also very durable and should last for a long time. The tile cutting wheel is easy to position to your desired location and easily replacable when it wears out. The stop mechanism on mine wasn't cast properly. The groove isn't wide enough in all areas for the screw. Because of this it's very difficult to slide the stop to the desired location without a lot of force. The screw post will eventually grind it down (see picture with gouges in guide) but that will take time. The ends of the tool that support the steel tubes is secured to the base with a screw that uses a very large hex bolt. On mine it looks like it might have moved during shipping and I don't have a hex key big enough to tighten it back down more. A more common screw head would have been nice. The measurements on the guide are geared towards millimeters. Just some minor changes in how the base and the guide were marked would have made it better for those of us dealing in inches. These issues are minor and the cutter is still very good. The guide will hopefully be replaced and doesn't seem like it's an issue on others. The markings seem inconvenient but in practice don't matter. Most people, myself included, don't rely on them too much. Measure and mark the tile and for repeat cuts use the stop based on the marks you made on the first tile.

For a professional or just someone who does a few jobs a year. This will pay for itself quickly. I tried it on porcelain, ceramic and glass tiles with success. Trick is to make sure the wheel is set as the right height. Make sure the title cutter is sable. Do a trial cut on a broken piece first. To get the right feel for the type of title you are using. Do not rush the first cut. This is a professional cutter that provides a clean break on a proper score every time. 45 degree cuts are no problem. Small cuts are no problem. I used this on some very expensive imported title from Italy. It took a couple of attempts to get the proper score but it worked great. I was able to set up a jig to repeat cuts.I also tried it on some Mexican title to see if it would work for small repair jobs. I had no problem when I took my time.

This tile cutter is good for those DIY and Professionals. I read a review indicating how it destroyed the tiles cut, but in one of pictures I included a cut tile that was previously cut to about 2" wide by 8" long and it cut the tile like butter. You have to install the cutter wheel so as to just touch the tile and the screw in handle tightens it in place. Then just push the handle gently over the tile and press handle down and does a perfect cut. This is not a cheap tool, but you pay for what you get in tools. There is not any information on use and care of product with the tile cutter. However you can go to YouTube and typing "rubi tile cutter" and lots of video's pop-up for you watch the tile cutter in operation.
