Answer This Question

A:  https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/208031866-Samsung-Digital-Appliances-FAQ Do the appliance and the SmartThings Hub need to be on the same network? No. Using the SmartThings app, you can connect your home appliance to the same Location as your SmartThings Hub, but they do not need to be on the same network.

A:  Samsung makes a few very expensive washers and dryers that have Wi-Fi connectivity through your SmartThings hub. The standard Samsung washers and dryers do not have this capability. Furthermore Samsung Wi-Fi gas dryers can only be monitored and not operated by the SmartThings hub.

      by|Dec 12, 2018

A:  Yes it does but the washer and dryer must be compatible meaning it must say WiFi enabled or works with SmartThings hub. It will not work with just a regular washer and dryer.

      Answer This Question

A:  I really like my SmartThings hub, the door sensors may be compatible with a different hub but I believe you need a hub of some kind to make them work for you, my SmartThings hub works with my semi wall outlets and my ge z wave switches, and has many other options I use.

      by|Nov 16, 2018

A:  Yes you will need a hub. You don’t necessarily need a SmartThings hub several will work with it. Any hub that works with z wave is capable of being used with your sensors. I personally have the SmartThings hub and it works with so many z wave products. Once you set up your sensor through a hub you will be able to be notified of the door opening or closing via phone.

A:  Without the sensor model number, it is not possible to say for sure. However, most sensors do require a hub.

          by|Nov 17, 2018

A:  That would be your easiest and cleanest option. I believe there Alexa hub would also recognize these sensors. However your ability to write scenarios using these could be limited.

              Answer This Question

A:  Yes it will. I have several GE light and fan dimmer control switches linked to my SmartThings hub.

              by|Oct 30, 2018

A:  Yes - Attached is a screen shot of some of the GE switches it is compatible with. The fan control switch is on the list.

                by|Oct 30, 2018

A:  Yes, it works well with GE smart dimmer switches.

                  by|Oct 31, 2018

A:  Hi Cliff. You bet they will work. I changed out most of my light switches with paddle switches and some are dimmers. I think it’s the best hub. I never have any problems and it works with so many things and Alexa loves it.

This is my second HUB and we use it everyday. The software could be a little more user friendly but other than that I like it. I control several lights in different rooms, my thermostat and my outside patio lights.

st started off good in 2018 but has been on a steady decline since then. samsung has left me without any means to control my st devices twice by updating the st app and making it not compatible with my samsung phone and tablets. last time i updated my phone and tablet, in the summer of 2021. now again both are not compatible! well fool me once samsung... i am not only getting rid of my st but every piece of samsung tech is being replaced now.

                        Better and Faster
i upgraded from the v1 hub to the v3 hub. i had 37 devices to migrate and once everything was moved over to the new hub, i was pleased with the speed of execution as well as utilities that come with the v3 hub. it does what's it's supposed to do and if it's anything like the v1 hub, it should last a long time.

Overall good smart hub. There are some issues with using the official app and certain automations, but between the api web site and the Classic app, I have been able to do what I needed and integrate devices.

Just getting started but there is a lot of potential. The device cost is reasonable. Flexible because it works with many other devices. Has battery backup. Additional sensors and devices can be expensive. I am a newbie but I have lots of experience with electronic devices; the software could be improved. I am looking forward to integrating this into my smart home.
