Keep your insulation firmly in place with Simpson Strong-Tie insulation supports. The insulation supports are cut from carbon steel, spring wire for optimum flexibility and strength. Mitered tips dig into the wood, securing itself and insulation when installed between joists.

Q:I'm installing this in an older house with True 2"x8" floor joist spaced at 20"oc. (approx. 18" clear spacing between joist. Perhaps I can cut these to a slightly shorter length? I'm thinking of cutting them down to 19.5"...

      A:  Hi CG10, this is McKenzie from Simpson Strongtie. We have 2 different part numbers, IS16-R for 16" on center spacing, and IS24-R for 24" on center spacing. This can be viewed on out Strongtie website. Thank you.

        Q:You stock 24 inch insulation in stores at Lynnhaven Princess Anne and Elson Green. Why do you no longer stock 24 inch insulation supports ? You have to order them. Make sense out of that.

          A:  Hi Nick, this is Ricardo from Simpson Strong-Tie. The IS24 is intended for joists that are spaced 24 inches, center-to-center. The actual dimension from face of the joist to the face of the adjacent joist will be 24" less the thickness of 1 joist. A length of 23-1/2" allows for greater flexibility in installation.             I like the 16" wire supports, but the 23.5" supports need a larger gauge wire, these are too flimsy.

                  As hard as I tried, I couldn’t get them to stay up. I even took a pair of vise grips and would tap one end into the the wood, to get it to dig in, then press the other end. Kept falling down. Had to return. Maybe someone with experience would have better luck.
