Box securely mounts to stud, not just clamping to drywall. Tight space, no problem. Secure attachment, no problem. Perfect solution. Would have been better if I could have gotten in store and not had to wait and order it.

In 2013 I had helped my son buy a home. The house was very old and the electrical was outdated with just the two wire system. I was looking for an outlet box to replace the old ones and add to the existing construction without having to tear down a wall or cut out large areas to install new boxes. I ordered 35 boxes, 30 of them being Single Gang. I ran 12-2 Wiring and used the single Gang Box 203340257 with 3.5" Depth for Switches, Outlets, and even single GFCI Outlet Plugs. I used the single Gang Box 203343418 with a little more depth at 3.75" to allow more room for wiring, especially when jumping wire from one GFCI to another, for the Plug itself takes up a lot of room. I have attached 2 photos of the two Gang Box 203340272. What I done to make things easier was to get a nice flat piece of wood about 1/4" Thick by 1 1/4" Wide, by 5" Length. From either side, measure in about 1/4" to 5/16" near the ends and draw a straight line. From the ends measure 3/4" in and mark the line. The two markings should be 3 1/4" inches apart, which coincides with the screw holes of the Single and Double Gang Boxes where you mount your switches and plugs. The two screws I got are off one of my Outlet plugs, that also comes with your Switches too and is about 3/4" long. Now just screw the wood to the box, just snug enough to where there is no play then put the box in the opening you have cut for the box and it will line up with the flat surface of your sheet rock, wood, etc. This gives you something to hold on to and at the same time keeps you from pushing the box in too far, or not far enough. As you can see in the photos your hand Phillip's screwdriver as well as an attachment Phillip's screwdriver bit for your drill will make contact with the screw and not interfere with the wood when screwing it down. Once screwed in, remove the wood piece and put it on to the next outlet box. This works on both the Single and Double Gang Boxes. These boxes are strong and durable. The screws are very strong and I had no problem using my drill to screw them in. I had one hit a knot in the wood and my bit just jump off without stripping or breaking the head. None twisted or broke. In the past, if like me, you ever had to put a box in an old building already constructed, you will appreciate this box and the time and trouble it will save you. I now use them in any new construction I do. For me I believe it has more benefits, for example, I needed to get back into the area where I had put one of the boxes and needed only to just unscrew it, pull it out, which allowed me to reach into the wall and pull another wire I fished through to be added. I hope someone out there finds this to be helpful. RWA56

It worked amazingly well as I had to secure it in an old opening and the screws made the job immensely easier. It definitely met expectations.

          Internal Clamps Are Showstoppers
Thought I'd try one. Nice box, great mounting alternative but internal cable clamps are a disaster. Can't easily feed wire though clamps as they are far too stiff, have to fight feeding wire through! Clamp opening appears to take only one wire. Clamps need a redesign. Carlton old work box clamps are much better!.

The box is strong, doesn't rack as much as conventional plastic nail-on boxes. The screws drive fairly easily.

Just discovered these boxes and they are great. Returned to store and purchased more. Easy to get the right depth and very stable.
