Why is just the replacement filter $4 more than just buying a whole new filter and housing?
Will this water filter remove chloramine? Chloramine is a chlorine formed by a combination of chlorine and ammonia. I believe it is still chlorine....
Our filters do not remove chloramines, only free chlorine.
Does this filter contains coconut shell?
No, they do not. We use Chlorgon which is Copper, Zinc & Calcium.

So does this water filter help soften water? thanks
Yes it does, by removing dirt, sediments and iron oxide.
I don't know about softening the water, but it does take out whatever it is that makes it harsh on my skin.
On the exterior show left new right replace, what does this mean? Mine in houston has been using over 2 years, i still see the white particles.
The white beads will remain white the entire time, the rest of the filtration media will oxidize to a charcoal color when it needs to be replaced. The HOC is a 12 month replacement filter.
