Q:Specs for this tape measure (33-425D) say it's a 1/2" wide tape. That's incorrect. The tape is 1" wide. Please correct the listing. It's frustrating to go through the trouble to order it, only to pick it up and find that it's quite large.

Answer This Question

A:  if measures length what else is there?

A:  Thanks for the heads-up on the description error. That?s a big discrepancy for anyone needing the 1/2? width.

A:  Nice tape measure. Sturdy and useful

      by|Dec 6, 2022

A:  My one of this model is measured at "ONE INCH" (1.0) wide. It is not 1/2" wide. A must tape measure for a good shop or contractor. Does have a little weight and bulk to it - for a reason = durability.

Q:Is the Stanley 25' Powerlock tape measure still made of metal?

            Answer This Question

A:  The 16 ft and shorter tape measures have die cast metal cases. The 25 ft and longer tape measures have ABS plastic cases.

A:  No, the case is a chromed plastic. Still pretty durable

A:  The case is a very hard, metal-feeling plastic (I had to really look at it) but the measuring tape itself is still that malleable metal.

Q:Despite the made in USA claim, every single Stanley 25' tape in my local HD is made in Thailand. There is a difference when you compare them side by side. The USA blades are bolder print and feel heavier. Are there no more made in USA ones?

A:  I always believed they were made in the USA. It says it right on the front. No where on my tape does it say Thailand. I’m in Boston ma.

A:  Mine says that it is made in the USA and the blade is slightly brighter and easier to read than the one that finally broke after decades of use. I do not see Thailand referenced anywhere and the tool is great.

Hi used to swear by these…
I used to swear by these silver power locks and recommend them to people. I’ve owned several different brands and the classic Stanley has always held up the best… until now. In the photo the top one is over two years old the middle one is two months old and the bottom one is two weeks old. Bought one to replace a 4 year old one that the tape finally broke after having a knick in it for a year. Stanley has really cheaped out on the materials lately.

                      I'm not sure
Bought this tape 30 years ago. Has been used, but not abused, except for being dropped from the rafters a few times, left out in the weather, stepped on, having lumber dropped on it and having the end constantly getting caught, on one thing or another. The shine has worn off of the case and the Stanley label in half worn away. I've purchase new Stanley tapes thinking that I would retire this one, but they're in my toolbox and this one was in my tool belt. The end finally snapped off of the tape as it retracted the other day. Gee, only 30 years. I don't know. I'll probably try to replace the tape so it can live on.

Bought 5 online. Photos show repetitively Made in USA… these are NOT made or even assembles in USA. Will probably return them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 25’ Powerlock that I purchased, I believe, in about 2000. Indestructible.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The PowerLock by Stanley is my oldest tape measure. I've used it to perform DIY task & professional trades jobs alike. It's been dropped hundreds of times, filled with debris & used regularly. The housing, lock & tape are still solid & readable to this day. Stanley's tape measures are commonly found among tradesman from Carpenters & construction to Plumbers & Electricians because they are durable, well made tools that last
