Hi Mark45208. Thank you for your question. Most species of wildflowers require six to eight hours of sunlight. Less sunlight will produce plants that are leggy, weak and without flowers. A few species, and one of our mixtures, will tolerate partial shade (at least four hours of sunlight). Do not attempt to seed areas that have dense shade. The best way the area would be to manually pull all the weeds out of the desired planning area. You will leave some weed seeds behind but overseeding with your seed pack will help to dwarf the weed seed production. As they grow and mature you and gently pull the weeds out. If you can wait for a week or two after pulling the weeds to plant your seeds, water the area well and wait for the weed seeds to germinate and then remove them. Repeat as often as you can before planning your wildflower seeds. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC
