I bought this just before a snow storm and loved that It would let me get to the top of the suv where you normally can't reach, I actually used it for my whole vehicle .. it worked better than the typical brush.
You didn't specify which part you're having trouble with. So the telescoping portion works by pushing the tab while pulling or pushing the extension into or out of the handle. To lock the extension (which has holes) must line up to the push tab at the appropriate length. The scraper portion only has 3 positions, left right or straight. To change it's position, push the large button on the side while applying slight pressure to either side of the scraper. When the scraper reaches the proper angle, it will lock itself in that position.
