Q:Does it matter which way I insert this Receiver Adapter Hitch?? I would really prefer to hide the adapter inside... than have it stick out a bit... Thx

A:  .Yes it does, it is going to stick out a little bit. The adapter shouldn't stick out too far from the receiver.

          A:  It reduces a 2.5 to a 2 inch, however this particular one fits very loosely and if I wasn't in a time crunch to use it, I would have taken it back.

            The inside dimensions were too small.
            I bought this to slide in my 2.5" receiver which worked fine, but the inside opening to allow a slide in hitch was too small for several of my 2" hitch heads. I had to do some serious grinding to get it to work. It looked like they incorrectly shaped the square adapter so it had a low spot/cave in at the middle of the seam inside. I wish I would have checked it against one of the hitch heads Home Depot had on the rack next to it before I bought it. Probably a QC issue. Another one by the same manufacturer might have worked.

              The product does what it needs to do, but it has nothing to stop it from sliding out the back while trying to install your hitch. I later found a different brand for less money that had a stop on it just like it needed…I wish I had found it first.
