A simple solution. I found this gem at my local Home Depot for my new Hunter fan. The install was straight forward since I was putting in a new fan. When I powered my fan on it self synced as stated. Note: The power to the switch/switches must stay on for the remote to work. Some fans are not compatible so one needs to ask an associate for assistance in selecting a compatible unit. This little unit is a great value from a brand we all trust and it worked well for my particular application.

Does the job
This remote is on-off only, so actual control of fan speed/light brightness must be controlled at the fan itself. We use the fan as a ceiling light (at one brightness level) and the fan only on low speed. So this works fine for us. If your needs are similar, this will do the job for you. If you want more control, you will need a different control. This unit came with the condo we bought, so can't comment on durability or battery life. And can't comment on installation since it was already installed (had to click a star below, so just chose "Average").

Don’t buy these.
I had 3 installed. All 3 had to be removed within 3 years due to the same malfunction. Light would flash but not come on.
