Amazing roof window with two 3 opening options
This large egress roof window tilts up from top hinge, pivots on center or can be left with just the ventilation flap open. The instructions are difficult to follow- we had trouble removing the sash to lighten this very heavy skylight and just installed it in one piece. And it is very easy to mangle the aluminum sash trim at the center pivot point if opened prior to installation, so remove the lower two sash side trim pieces first (they pop out easily) and reinstall them when everything is complete by unlocking top bar and pivoting sash at center. We replaced a 30 year old Velux of the same size but the drywall opening is smaller so interior sheetrock will have to be redone

This is a solidly built window. We love that we can open it like a door to access the roof. Although the recent we bought it was to be able to open the window to use a telescope for the night skies. What would make it even more perfect is if they made the hinges a little more flexible to open it and lie flat. Also, I wish it came with a screen.

Heavy sash but quality built. Velux installation videos helpfull but could not find one with shingle installation. Instructions confusing, helps to read and look at flashing kit parts several times. I think it will be a great window with many years of service. Definitely separate sash from frame to install.
