Expensive but Worth It
I refinished a wine barrel lid and wanted the wood to look rustic and not shiny at all. Because it was going to be used as a table top, I needed to protect it from water marks. This worked perfectly! Love this stuff!

I love the matte look on wood products that have great graining and the slight to no shine really let the graining/pattern pop! Great product to clean up as well since it’s water based. Soap and water clean up of brushes is perfect!

Applied as a top coat to a matte black finish...
Applied as a top coat to a matte black finish and as the clear dried it bubbled horribly. I had to sand it down and re paint. Will not be adding the top coat this time.

This is not what we expect to hear! For the best finish, Rust-Oleum Varathane Water-Based Ultimate Polyurethane needs to be applied with a good quality synthetic bristle brush or applicator. You also want to ensure that you are applying to a clean and dry surface. If the paint was newer, it may have needed time to cure to prevent bubbling.
