Will this work to pump up an air mattress with an electric pump?

Asked by Sean June 4, 2021

Answers

The pump will likely draw more than 500 watts on startup. If it peaks at 500 watts, then this inverter should get the job done.

May sound stupid, but is it able to be used while the engine is running? Never used one before?

Asked by Ike May 18, 2021

Answers

In many cars the engine has to be running to power the power outlets / cigarette lighter that the inverter uses for power.

Does this charge a car battery

Asked by Harry January 21, 2021

Answers

No. It requires the car battery to be charged to provide power to the inverter.

Can you run a 500 watt heater on this

Asked by shauna December 15, 2020

Answers

That would be marginal. The inverter is rated for 500W and, unless they over-engineered it a bit, you may have a problem with the heater.

Can this be connected to the cigarette lighter in your car? If not, is there an adapter?

Asked by Michael August 6, 2020

Answers

Yes, cigarette Lighter. However, it also has a set of cable clamps to replace the cigarette lighter attachment

I was really excited to get this inverter to replace a 200W one on my boat to power all kinds of random tools - they even list many examples of the tools I want to use on the side of the box. Once you open the box the instructions warn this is a "modified sine wave" inverter and some things may not operate properly. EVERYTHING we tested did not operate properly - it would work for a second and then flash a green light on the device, further instruction reading said it was most likely due to this type of "sine wave" inverter making it completely useless to us. My original 200W inverter works way better than this one. The battery terminal screws on the back are incredibly cheap too. I would never recommend buying this device for any reason.

It's a nice inverter that has 2 120V household outlets as well as 2 USB charging ports. It comes with clamps to attach directly to a 12v battery as well as a cigarette lighter plug. It's rated for 500 watts but the manual claims it has double that (1,000 watts) of starting power for motors that have a high initial surge. This is a modified sine wave inverter which means the power isn't as "clean" as plugging into a standard wall outlet. For some items won't work and some might get damage and some motors may run hotter or wear out sooner. Some devices don't do well on MSW inverters so you should check the device you're looking to run. Medical devices, like CPAPs, I believe need a pure sine wave inverter. I was able to run a belt sander on this inverter with no problem. Primarily got this to charge phones and maybe run some LED lights when I'm out in the woods away from power. The power outlets in my car turn off after a period of time so I can just hook this up to the battery to charge phones.

Vector 500-Watt Power Inverter with USB - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review I occasionally need 120v power for some device while in my car. I needed it recently to run a power air pump for a mattress while camping. This Vector 500-Watt Power Inverter with USB provides all of the 120v power I need through my car’s 12v outputs. The inverted has two 120v outlets for any devices and two 3.1A USB outlets for charging phones, battery packs, etc. At 500 Watts, this inverter will easily run most household-type devices like lamps, computers, chargers and other electronics. I was using it to charge my power tool batteries and a work light while I was working on the car. I would like to be able to run my small 5hp shop vac but the wattage required is about double what this inverter can do. I guess I could have tried it to test the overload circuitry but I wasn’t that brave. I may have to look for another, smaller vacuum for the car that will work with this inverter. Connecting is a piece of cake. There is a cable that attaches to the connectors on the inverter with the other end going to the 12v cigarette lighter outlet. Push the power button and the green power light shows it’s working! There are also cables that can be used to connect the inverter directly to the battery if desired. I assume the power output is pretty clean but I don’t think I would trust it with highly sensitive electronic equipment unless there was some other trusted power conditioning in line. There’s a fan to keep the inverter from over heating and automatic shutdown for over/under current, etc. So you can feel pretty safe using it in your car. While I don’t have a need for an inverter very often, it’s one of those things that when you need it, it’s worth its weight in gold. At 500 watts there should be plenty of power available in the two 120v outlets to run most common household devices. The two 3.1A USB charging ports are just icing on the cake. This Vector 500-Watt Power Inverter with USB will be living in my car for those rare needs.

Vector 500-Watt Power Inverter with USB – Power inverters are handy devices when there isn’t an electric AC source nearby. I have used mine for charging power tool batteries and for LED work-lights on buildings that weren’t hooked up to the electric utility. This inverter is easy to use, it connects to a car or truck battery in minutes and provides enough AC power for smaller appliances or accessories like battery chargers, lighting, TVs or almost any other AC load that draws less than 500w (about 4 amps), total for both outlets. For smaller loads, up to 120 watts, there is a cigarette lighter-style plug-in adapter for the 12v port inside the car. The inverter includes a couple of 5v USB charging ports for phones or other electronics. There is a warning indicator if your battery is getting low, but even after charging 20v tool batteries for hours the indicator hasn’t gone off for me.

I got this product for my car because I only have one USB port in the front. When going on long car trips with several people in the car sometimes you have to share the USB port. This plugs into the car lighter and has two extra USB ports. It also comes with battery clamps and has to 2 plugs to plug in AC outlets. It is easy to connect to and even has a fan to kept it cool . It also has high and low voltage protection.

This little inverter will provide about 4.0 amps of 120 volt power. This can run things like a small TV and a small satellite receiver, charge a laptop and 2 phones at once. I did do a voltage test and the unit held at about 120 volts under a 3.5 amp load. The unloaded voltage was 123 volts, so this little inverter has good voltage regulation. I plugged my phone into this and it will provide fast charging my LG phone and Samsung tables. This inverter does have a low voltage shut off at 10.5 volts so it won't completely drain the supply battery or damage it by letting it run all the way down. The inverter comes with 2 sets of supply wires, one with alligator clips for a quick connection to a car or truck battery and one set to plug into a standard round car plug. One comment about this inverter; if you have older sensitive electronics (older TV's, radio's) this inverter only produces square sine wave output. So, you may hear noise or see static on a TV screen from this inverter. If you need pure sine wave output this may not be the inverter for your application. Overall this is a nice little 120 volt power supply for lighter duty needs.

The Vector 500-Watt Power Inverter with USB arrived in the mail well packed and undamaged during shipping. Right out of the box this power inverter instantly became an indispensable item to have for camping, tailgating, or for any outdoor activity that needs electricity. Simply connect it to your car battery or cigarette lighter in your car. You then have two 120V outlets and two 3.1A USB charging ports to use. Run a laptop, power tools, a CPAP machine, and charge devices easily too. It comes with two ways to connect to your car battery: regular car battery clips or a cigarette lighter adapter! Awesome versatility! I used the inverter just recently to power my CPAP machine while car camping. I was able to sleep safely and comfortably all night because I was able to just plug in my CPAP machine like I would at home. Thanks to this inverter, no snoring because I had electricity all night! I love this inverter and wish I would have gotten one long ago. Overall a nicely designed device and highly recommended!

This power inverter comes in handy for powering electrical items while on the road by using your car 12V battery. I keep this in my car for when I need AC power for a small appliance while not near an electrical outlet. ________It comes with great instructions that gives you plenty of information on usage, troubleshooting, and a convenient chart for estimating the wattage of some common products. It inverts the DC power so you can plug in up to a 120W tool using the cigarette lighter connector or 500W using the clamps directly to your car battery. The fused wiring for the lighter connection are about 21" long, and the wires for the battery clamp connection are about 22" long. Hookup to the inverter is quick and easy with convenient screw knobs. ________The unit has a cooling fan which is not annoyingly loud. It has (2) 3-pronged outlets and (2) 3.1Amp USB ports. The on/off button is also a status light for power or fault. I like that it automatically shuts down when overloaded. This product is made in China and has a 1-year warranty from Baccus Global LLC.

I have been a builder and remodeler for 50 years, and as such I have had many occasions when I didn't have ready access to grid power but I still needed to power a cordless tool or other device that was low on battery. That's where a product like this VECTOR 500-WATT POWER INVERTER WITH USB really comes in handy. It's easy to find an inverter that goes to 100 watts or less, but this one goes "above and beyond" with 500 watts.

This Vector Power Inverter is very powerful and exactly what I was looking for. It will get alot of use on road trips and other adventures. I love that you can connect to the cigarette lighter while driving and to the vehicle's battery when parked. This is really a versatile and convenient Power Inverter that is constructed well and is durable. You can run many different things off of it and there is an example list on the box. (see picture). Works great! Very reasonably priced making it a great value for all. Highly recommend!
