Tiny and surprisingly good for arts / crafts
I should admit--I wasn't sure what this WAS when I ordered it. I thought it was an L-square, for making perfect right angles. It's *actually* for drawing straight lines along the edge of something. First, this thing is TINY. It's about 2 1/2" by 1 1/2". It truly is a "pocket" tool--even for us women who never have large enough pockets! I saw some other reviews critiquing the tiny holes, and it's true, they are tiny. I usually use mechanical pencils, though, and they fit no problem in these tiny holes. I tested out the tool on one of the big drawing pages my daughter uses. I know this is probably meant for wood and other building materials, not paper and other art materials, but it worked remarkably well. The tool is lightweight enough to slide smoothly. It didn't even wrinkle the paper. This may be my new favorite tool for making greeting cards...

Small marking tool makes insets easier
This small tool is very sturdy and is wide enough down both sides to help cover any small irregularities in the surface. The spacing of the holes gives lots of options and allows for a variety of incremental measurements. Cutting an inset in the edge of a piece of wood was easier because I could measure from the same edge. I could measure and mark at the same time. The size of the holes was the only problem. The rough wood wore down the tip of my pencil quickly, which caused it to have trouble marking future lines.

Handy but not perfect little tool
Ok Looks Great and Feels Solid. Works great to pull along a edge and make marks every few inches. You can connect them with a straight edge later. The outside edges can be used to hold a marking device on it, pencil or awl, but they will wander as you try to scribe the line. The marking holes are very small, not sure what will work in them to give you the line you are looking for. Having the premeasured holes is a great idea but they are just a bite small. Not a very costly tool so it might be worth the price but if they redesigned it so the holes could be used, it would be a have to have tool.

Thoughtful design, simple, accurate & repeatable results
When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was its weight, feels good in the hand. After careful inspection, I noticed the holes were lined up so you can make a mark to 1/32nd of an inch. This makes it much easier to be repeatable and precise. Each line is offset from the one closest to the edge. No more holding you pencil next to your square and hoping to be accurate. This clever little device will put you spot on every time.

Convenient size and handy tool
This Pocket marking edge ruler showed to have a lot of potential at first glance. Upon initial attempts to utilize the device as its intended, I encountered a flaw. Granted the Pocket Marking Edge Ruler in its design to make perfect, perpendicular 90 Degree lines has accomplished that. The holes on the individual markings of the ruler indicator are entirely too small. Most carpenters use the big rectangle pencils on the job and in no would the lead fit in the holes to be dragged down the edge of a board to make a border mark. If someone was using a mechanical pencil, they may be able to get the lead down in the holes but a pencil lead that small has the potential to get caught on a wood grain and break.. If the designers would put "v" notches on the outsides of each side to rest a pencil lead into, then the border mark would be easy and steady to be made.
