Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. Our AC Line product is designed as a proactive-maintenance solution to assist with dissolving build up in the AC Line. Rust is considered a water deposit that our product can assist with dissolving. Depending on the location, size and debris in the line itself, the AC Line Cleaner maybe able to assist with dissolving a physical block. Additional rust color could be related to the condition of the emergency pans surface as well.

Can I pour this down my sink?

Person who said to question why AC condensate drain line was connected to bathroom sink is not a licensed plumber. Disregard that response. Air Conditioning Systems typically have two drain pans (the primary pan inside the coil box, and a secondary pan under the outside of the coil box), or the just have the primary pan inside the AC Unit with a float switch that shuts the unit off if the pan is full of water. Older systems will just overflow in a clog and water damage your house. The primary drain typically does not drain to the outside (code violation). It drains to a funnel drain, sump, direct to sewer system (and other various methods). The most common method these days is to have a Wye Tailpiece Adapter under a Bathroom Sink before the P-Trap. The condensate drain is connected to the Wye. I would not use clorox or drano on any HVAC systems. You don't want the corrosives and don't want the fumes. These lines need to be blown out. A condensate drain line cleaner and tablets to put in your pan are the best preventative measure.

can this product be poured into drip pan? House doesn't have separate drain line cap

Most modern systems are set up expecting the drip pan to be completely dry. If your system runs all the water through the pan and then down and out the drain line, then you can pour it into the drip pan.

can it be poured directly into the drain pan if no access to the drain line?

Saw a youtube recommendation for this product, tried it on our a/c drain line. It did absolutely nothing for us. Though we have kept our drain line clear for years with pool tabs or distilled white vinegar, the problem is our line is now 30 years old. It may work for you. Good luck

It works for my HVAC drain line, albeit very slowly. I guess there maybe a lot of clog, that's why. I hope that by using multiple bottles, eventually the clog will be cleared enough so that the A/C can run for a few weeks smooth.
