will this product work on the werner multi position laddet

Asked by: victor
It'll work but they don't provide paper instructions for MT22 ladders. It has to be place on the climb side resulting in a 6" standoff and not 10". You don't use the angle bracket. Look on the stabilizer itself, the tiny instructions for MT22 ladders are there.

I lost a Wingnut. 5/16-18 UNC does not fit 5/16-24 UNF does not fit Is it perhaps Metric ? The original Wingnuts fit perfectly - the threads on the U-Bolt are not damaged or worn.
Asked by: SalemCat
I ended up purchasing an entirely new Stabilizer, and the new parts are 5/16UNC-18. But the new Wing Nuts will not fit my old Stabilizer. And old Wing Nuts will not fit my new Stabilizer. Upon close inspection, the older stabilizer has a different, finer TPI. Most likely 5/16UNF-24. Even though modern 5/16UNF-24 do not fit. It may be old U-Bolts oxidized a bit and grew in size. They definitely did not rust. Yet the old Wing Nuts still fit the old U-Bolts perfectly. Odd.

(AC96) can this product be use to clean gutters

Asked by: easyed
This depends on the length of your extension ladder and the width of your soffit. If all factors are correct, the answer is yes, it will stabilize your ladder. But it will only stabilize it to a degree, don't be laying on it for God sake. Don't place your ladder upside down as I have seen done as well.

Universal Ladder Stabilizer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 259.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! I safely climbed on my ladder (Werner Model# MT-22 - Internet# 100658955 - Store SKU# 769410) to reach my gutter after attaching this stabilizer. My only gripe is not with the item, but with the instructions. Guys do not read instructions! We look at pictures! No but seriously. I always read all the instructions on mostly anything I purchase, but the instructions that were included with my stabilizer were wordy and not clear. There is only ONE way this item will attach to my particular ladder, which, by the way, is the only stabilizer that will properly fit on MY ladder. The way this attaches to my particular ladder is a bit different than the way it attaches to other ladders, even from the same manufacturer. In any event, quick post on the manufacturer's website asking for further instructions, solved the issue painlessly and easily. I'm not trying to drown in a glass of water, but I still think that a picture is worth a thousand words and would have made the attaching process easier right out the box!

I was worried that this product would not be heavy duty enough to not just do the job but continue to perform without moving on the ladder or just not being strong enough (because it is physically very light to carry when new, in its box). I needn't have worried! It has not budged since I installed it (MAKE SURE YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!) And, my fear of it not being heavy enough were not founded as well. The ladder it is installed on is rated for 225 lbs. Me and a bundle of shingles take the ladder to that limit. The stabilizer doesn't even flinch when the ladder is loaded this way. It remains rock steady, no flexing or sway of any kind. I am totally happy with its performance.

One ubolt thread was stripped, and one of the wingnuts was either defective or incorrect. This makes it a pain in the butt to get it on and off the ladder when I want to use it. Called Werner customer service regarding such and was disappointed. Took some waiting and the automated system directs you to call a different line than included in the manual. Once I was able to get a hold of someone, I thought they'd just send me a new ubolt and wing nut like many places do in such an instance of a bad piece of simple hardware out the box. I was willing to provide a picture of the ubolt and also my scanned receipt, but the customer service rep wasn't interested. His instructions were to return it to the store and that there was nothing they could do to help me but sell me the hardware kit if I wanted to buy it. The hardware kit they sell costs almost as much as the ladder stabilizer lol. No thank you. That's poor customer service. Nearest Home Depot to me is about 45 minutes away so return to store is inconvenient. I'm returning it to home depot despite this (who are great by the way). Not getting another Werner ladder stabilizer as replacement though. I'll take my business to a different manufacturer. Seems odd to lose a customer over a $1 piece of defective hardware. Oh well.

It is economically priced. The documentation provides specific assembly provisions as well. I do suggest Werner or customers take steps to secure the rubber cushions to the aluminum extrusions. What happened to me was the rubber cushions easily slipped off and fell to the ground when I used the stabilizer against a shingled roof. For simplicity, I suggest using a worm screw hose clamp to secure the rubber cushion to each end of the extrusion. I do not suggest glue because there removal may be necessary. And certainly do not drill into the extrusion for a mounting screw..

The description states these work with MT ladders of all lengths. What it does not tell you ... if you install it as directed (on the climbing side), you lose the width of the ladder and width of the bar, making the standoff only 6". 6" is enough to get the ends of the ladder off the wall, but not enough to get around my shingle overhang (which is mostly why I wanted it; to clean the gutters). I see others mounted it on the other side. If that is a safe option, the manufacturer should state so. If not, they should acknowledge the true standoff. Also, the directions state to, 'Slide bucket hanger onto stabilizer'. What they do not mention ... the bow in the bar, creates a bulge in the bar. The hook does not slide on. It took me 30 minutes of re-reading the direction, and hammering it, to get it on. Typically when you have to hammer something in place, you are doing it wrong. Fits perfectly once it is past the bow, but the directions should mention this.
