Does this product work over the entire local network? If I have installed wireless access points to extend the wireless router range, and the controlled device is outside of the reach of the hub wireless signal, but covered by the wireless access point for my network, will they still communicate, and work as advertised?

How many recessed lights will work on the one hub? Do i need Wifi for it?

I have not seen an upper limit for remote devices. Though, I only have eight remote light and switches, working about a dozen lights. Yes ... you will need WiFi to support your phone, HUB2 and remote devices. WINK's architecture is based on WiFi connectivity.

I would not recommend placing it anywhere you would not put a personal computer or laptop. For a more exact answer, it's been tested for use between or 32-104 F or 0-40 C.

I only use this for fairly simple home automation tasks, like turning lights on and off at preprogrammed times. So far it has worked exactly as advertised, and is very simple to set-up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am a happy customer! Wink support is first class! I had the Wink Hub 1 and migrated my settings... I am a happy customer! Wink support is first class! I had the Wink Hub 1 and migrated my settings to the Wink Hub 2. A firmware update was required on my hub 1 before I could proceed. It didn't push automatically so I needed to call Wink's tech support. But with Wink a tech support call is not a nightmare! They pushed the firmware to my hub 1 and the migration of all my old settings from my hub 1 to my hub 2 went flawlessly. My Amazon Echo Smart Home settings were still working as well. The second day I had the hub 2 I installed a Schlage Connect deadbolt. The hub 2 recognized it without issue. Wink did need to push a firmware update to my hub 2 during the process. I would expect frequent firmware updates during the first several months of an updated product such as this. I am operating my Nest Protect 2nd Gen Alarms, Schlage Connect Deadbolt, Chamberlain Garage Door Opener, GoControl Security Kit, and many GE Link light bulbs. The response times are very fast. The hub 2 is currently connected to my network's WiFi but once I move some cables around and put in a bigger surge protector I will connected this via the new Ethernet port.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I own the original wink and yesterday the local HD had a Wink 2 so I bought it right away even th... I own the original wink and yesterday the local HD had a Wink 2 so I bought it right away even though I have one on order online. All I can say, LOVE IT. It took the time to turn on my Leviton Z-Wave lights from over 3 seconds down to sub 1 second, Almost like pressing the light switch itself. Similar improvement with unlocking and locking Schlage Connect locks. Impressive. Boots quicker, and took the hub transfer information almost flawlessly (details on that below). Challenges: Still buggy app. I have 3 Schlage Connect Deadbolt locks and they stopped working after the Hub Transfer from Wink to Wink2, I had to delete them and re-add them directly to Wink2 and they worked perfect since. Once I connected the Wink2, it required a software update which took a good 20 minutes and appeared to lock up at times, but it did not it. The Hub Transfer required a software update which took a long time and I had to reset the original hub twice as it locked up. but all went well.

I have used several home automation products. The only reason this got three stars is the lack of ability to unlock a door in any automation. They claim it is for security but every competitor allows you to do this. On my Vera system I used it for when I arrived home and also for my smoke alarms if it was triggered it would unlock the doors. I never had any issues with security. The UI only being available on mobile devices is harder to setup too. With other systems they also provide a web UI that you can access from any computer. In all it is a solid product. I may still return it because having it unlock doors and open garages when you arrive home is a big deal. Even if you give the option to acknowledge that there is a risk...

It's easy to setup and use. The interface becomes quite intuitive once you use it a bit. I wish there was an interface for my desktop computer instead of everything being through my phone. The devices that connect to it (3rd party) vary in quality but that is not the fault of Wink. There are often cheaper options for devices for other hubs but cheaper often comes with a price of lower quality so take that for what it's worth.

I'm a new Wink Hub 2 customer over the last few weeks and absolutely love the product, the app, the technology and the fabulous customer service. I have been in technology my entire career and seen plenty of new technology - this is certainly some of the best technology that I have seen over the years - great job on the product and app - not only highly functional but more importantly intuitive and enjoyable to work with. Congrats from a very very happy customer!

I am still in the process installing other Smart controls, but am very pleased with the project at this time...........thanks....................
