It will cut Formica but because they're shears it won't be a clean cut and you risk cracking the Formica.
They should be able to be sharpened, blades are thick enough. like a ultra duty scissors
They are a bit small but cut easily so I think someone with arthritis should be able to use them in limited fashion

I think you would be able to, based on the variety of things I've cut. The blades aren't real long, so you would be making several short cuts, but you have good leverage with the long handles.

Not easily, a saw or even tin snips would work better. The lattics is thick for the short handles on these, its bad ergonomics
