Hello TCLEBL - The answer to your question as to whether the Zircon MultiScanner HD900 3 in. Multifunction Stud Finder will read through Hardie plank is, maybe. The tool is primarily designed for interior use. If the scanned material is too thick, it may not work. For most likely positive result, provided the vapor barrier is not metallic, scan for the course of nails holding the Hardie board to the stud in metal scan mode. Can it detect wall studs through ceramic tile
Hi Greg - Scanning through ceramic tile can be complicated. The MultiScanner HD900 may help you locate studs in DeepScan mode, or it may help you identify the location of screws in MetalScan mode. After scanning and marking numerous heights on the wall to determine stud location, drill a small test hole through the grout to confirm it. Hello Joseph - Scanning for studs through tile is very tricky and often not successful. There are too many variables. Best to use the HD 900 in Metal Scan mode to try and locate a column of nails or screws holding the plaster board to the wall. After you have mapped a column, use a very small drill bit to confirm stud location by drilling through the grout. If you didn't locate a stud, repairing grout is easier than replacing tile. Will this work on cement walls to find conduit
Hi Annie. If it's ferrous metal conduit it will find it up to 3" deep in cement. However, the best Zircon tools for finding metal in concrete are the MT6 and the MT7. They will locate ferrous and nonferrous metal up to 6" deep in concrete and tell you how deep the metal is. For more information please contact our customer support through the Zircon website.
