Smart Thermostat Essential Learning Programmable Thermostat

We’ve had our Ecobee for 3 weeks and couldn’t be happier with it. It looks sleek and modern, has tons of features, and most importantly has lowered our heating costs.

Have been back and forth by email and a couple calls BUT ISSUE NOT RESOLVED. Now they don’t want to communicate with me. I get "Thermostat sensor detected motion" hundred times a day 😡. Just want these to STOP. Today I called in twice and opted for a call back each time and I’m unable get on the line, they leave a message saying call back 😡. Why not just keep calling back.

The Smart Thermostat Essential Learning Programmable Thermostat has exceeded my expectations! Looking to control my thermostat while away for extended periods of times, I purchased this thermostat. Installation was quick and easy, and when I reached out with questions, customer service was exceptional—knowledgeable, patient, and responsive. It integrated seamlessly with my HVAC system, giving me confidence right from the start. Now, despite the sudden weather change, I can control my thermostat’s temperatures. This thermostat makes managing home comfort simple, reliable, and stress free, not to mention it can help with reducing heating costs. Highly recommended!

I really love the look of this thermostat. It has plenty of programmable options. Allowing for fine tunning of comfort needs. My favorite function is being able to adjust the temperate from my phone. It’s so nice to adjust the thermostat from bed at night. But not entirely user friendly. I think a user that is not tech savvy would have a difficult time setting it all up. I’m also disappointed that to use the geofencing option. (Automatically adjust temp when you are away from the home.) on an iPhone you need a home hub. Cheapest option is $99 google speaker. Or buying many motion sensor. Over all the thermostat does just about everything I want it too and I’m very happy with it.

Call me old fashioned but I like simple and easy to operate thermostats. When looking for a wifi thermostat, I tried many finally ending with the Ecobee Essential. It is the perfect mix of simple operating features, easy to install and set up, and settings that allow additional control of the AC and Heat if needed. If you don't need all the extra features of the higher units, this is the perfect choice.

We purchased our ecobee Essential because we recently had a new HVAC unit installed downstairs (we have two units), it included an ecobee 3 Lite, and we wanted one for our existing upstairs unit as well. I installed the Essential myself, and it was very easy to install. The ecobee App guided me through every step of the installation, from removing my old digital (non-smart) thermostat, to connecting my new Essential to my Wi-Fi network (I'd already downloaded the ecobee app to my phone, and had been using it with my Lite). I didn't need to use the Trim Kit or the PEK (Power Extension Kit), as my old thermostat didn't leave an "Outline" on the wall, and the thermostat I was replacing already had a "C" ("Common") connection. The only issue I had during installation was getting the Essential to sit flush with the wall, but this was easily solved by pushing the wires further into the wall. The integration with (Amazon) Alexa, Google Home, and (Samsung) Smart Things is great and works well, as I can get current settings and adjust them through all of my smart devices. My other family members were also able to download the ecobee App onto their phones, so that they may control both of our ecobees as well. I also love how the ecobees look on the wall. The design is so futuristic and sleek, and the interface on the ecobees themselves is very easy to use (the ecobee app is also very easy to use as well). The Lite replaced a nearly 25-year-old analog thermostat that looked like it was from the 1980s, while the Essential replaced a digital one that was only about eight years old. I'm still learning how to use my ecobees, but the videos and tips on the ecobee website and YouTube Channel are very helpful. The only downside I can think of is that no ecobee is compatible with the wiring setup of my third unit (for my addition/sunroom) that has a 20-year-old digital thermostat (I confirmed this with ecobee Support, whom I found to be very helpful), and I wish they would be compatible with separate "O" and "B" wires (if ecobee ever decides to make a thermostat that supports these types of connections, I'd love to buy a third one). Overall, I would highly recommend the ecobee Essential to anyone looking to save money on their energy bill, or just simply want to replace their old "Dumb" thermostat.

I love that I can set a temperature schedule and have access to it while I’m away from home. It has cut our electric bill in half!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ecobee smart thermostat I received for my honest opinion. It was very easy to install very easy to set up and their is a app to download and we don't ever have to mess with heat or air again it does it all on its own to our set up and we are able to use our phone or Alexa to adjust heat or air if needed without getting up or being home. I have already purchased another for inlaws. Absolutely would recommend.

Setup was quick and easy thanks to the detailed app instructions! It looks clean on the wall, the touchscreen is intuitive (if a bit slow), and the smart features like scheduling and eco+ adjustments are genuinely helpful. I’ve already noticed some energy savings, and it works flawlessly with Alexa and HomeKit! I absolutely love it and can’t recommend it enough!!
