Hi Pat! Our 2 in. Switchblade Self Feed Bit (48-25-5135) is optimized for wood drilling applications.
My Milwaukee extensions have a set screw that engages the groove near the bottom of the bit's shank. The screw is engaged using a hex key. I have never had a problem pulling a bit out. In the case where the hole hasn't punched through, you may need to reverse the drill briefly to disengage the screw tip of the bit which grabs tightly in my experience.
Yes, you'll need an extension
Yes. Pick the best attachment and it will hold on to it
It is completely based on the tolerances of the extensions you use. This doesn’t come with a attachment. If a attachment is strong enough, is based solely on how said attachment is made.
Yes, I got mine last week and been trying different Types, this is the best.

A Forstner bit cuts a smooth hole with a flat bottom, the Milwaukee bit is a general construction bit for fast boring of holes.
Hi Kat! Once assembled, our 2 in. Switchblade Self Feed Bit is 3" in depth. However, we do offer Extensions to extend your reach when drilling with Milwaukee Selfeed Bits, Auger Bits and Hole Saws. Product #48-28-4001 is our 5-1/2" Extension.
Yes it will you might need a extension.
I have purchased replacement blades at the Home Depot. As to the availability of a 1 3/4" bit: The nearest sizes on the Milwaukee site are 1 1/2" and 2".
No, it does not come in 1-3/4 inch.
Right next to the bits
Google and yes
I wouldn’t try it
Yes it will cut through nails. However, doing so will dull the cutting blade. Sometimes pulling the nail isn't an easy option and moving the hole doesn't work. So just drill through them and be prepared to change the blade.
It is a wood bit.
No. The Self Feeding Switchblade drill bit is intended to be used on lumber drilling only. For going through a metal lamp post we suggest using one of our Hole Dozer Hole Saws.
If it is wood yes but not metal. For metal you need a hole saw.
Hello Lynn, This blade will unfortunately not cut through granite. I've included a listing below of suitable hole saw blades. I hope this helps. Hole Saw Blades: http://www.homedepot.com/s/granite%2520hole%2520saw?NCNI-5 Cheers, Chris
