You will need to buy a set screw wrench to fit the set screw in the towel ring. Buy a set of small wrenches and one of them should fit.
It's just a very small allen wrench. This set should have one https://www.homedepot.com/s/allen%2520wrench%2520set?NCNI-5
Look at the screw, take a picture, then go to a hardware store and buy one.
You'll find a small opening on the bottom of the base. There is a small screw that can be adjusted with a 'L' wrench. (Some units may have a small flat head screw). Assuming an 'L' wrench is required, the hard part is to find the right size. Of course the quality of your eyesight when looking up close at a small object will add to the challenge. Once you have the right size tool, it is easy to loosen and remove. Note: It is a small screw, so be sure you cover any drains or other unreachable locations the screw may wind up if it falls off the unit.
Gail, Thank you for your question. The towel ring is approximately 6 inches in diameter. Best, Customer Care Team

The ring is 7" wide. The opening is just shy of 6.5" wide.

Just take the bracket to an Ace Hardware store and they can help you get the correct size, and then buy 2, so you have a spare one.
We thank you for your question. The size screw that you are needing is a Set Screw, #8-32 x 7/16". Or you may contact customer care at 1800.542.3789- The Customer Care Team
I install mine in a heart beat.. nothing major. The little template you nee to make sure you put it the right way, insert the screws and wala there you have it was easy to put it on the wall.. I really don't know what happened to yours.
It might be that the little screw did not catch the plate attached to the wall. Back the little screw out almost all the way with the Allan wrench, then re-position the the towel ring unit over the bracket. Slowly tighten the screw with the Allan wrench and check to feel if it has caught the lower portion of the bracket. If so, tighten it all the way. If not, repeat the steps
I do apologize for your inconvenience. Please feel free to contact customer care for technical support at 800-542-3789. They will be glad to assist. Kind Regards, emccollum
With the set screw at the bottom. Use the correct correct size Allen Wrench. So as not to strip the set screw.
The small hex screw is not getting behind the wall plate. Loosen the plate a bit and try again to clamp. Make sure the hex screw is fully out first then holding the fitting hard against the wall plate screw the hex screw in till it grips. Get someone to hold the fitting in place for you while you screw in the hex it will help.
