The celestial inspired design on the lantern style birdfeeder is sure to keep the birds flocking to your yard day and night. The Perky-Pet Sun & Star Lantern holds an impressive 3 lb of seed and has a wide perching area to allow for more birds to feed at one time. The all metal construction gives this feeder a modern look, yet makes it extremely durable and rust proof. Remember to clean this large bird feeder once every two weeks with a mild soap and water solution.

This feeder is brown and black.
This feeder may be pole-mounted.
They are plastic.
This feeder does not have any squirrel-deterring features.
I hung the feeder with a long metal hook from the edge of the patio. I have never seen a squirrel attempt to eat from it. Squirrels just scavenge whatever falls to the ground.
No. Despite baffles, whenever squirrels jump on it, it falls to the ground and all the seed falls out.
Some spillage is normal, excessive spillage may be occurring because large birds are landing on the feeder and tilting it.
Well, if you're filling it completely to the very top, it might be the weight is pushing it out too fast. It has not been a problem for me, although blue jays are so crazy, they tend to slosh some overboard. If it spills out of mine, I'm happy the doves can eat it, since they're ground feeders usually. What's on your ground might just be the hulls of the seed - watch them sometime eating, and you'll see that often, they grab seeds, then hull them, and the hulls fall to the ground, but that's just the shells. I have two feeders, and they eat it pretty fast - if you have one, then a week might be about right if you have lots of visitors!
I have this particular feeder and I think you have to talk to the birds about the mess. They sit on the edge and can't help it. I also have deer that nudge it with their noses.
The top comes off by unscrewing the finial on top to which the hanging loop is attached. Unscrew the finial until it separates from the long rod running from bottom to top inside the feeder. Once the finial is loose simply lift the top off and the entire inside of the feeder is accessible. Fill with seed of your choice, replace the top by inserting the threaded rod through the hole in the top then retread the finial onto the rod protruding through the top. Screw the finial onto the rod so that it doesn’t unscrew by wind motion swinging the feeder or squirrels attempting to raid it.
The hook on the lid unscrews from the feeder body and the lid lifts off. To close just screw the hook back on thru the lid. Very simple and easy.
You unscrew the top unit that has the hanging loop. Then the whole top lifts off.
You unscrew the top ring then pull the top piece off. I've had mine at least 7 or 8yrs. love it!!!
This feeder is 8.2" x 8.2" x 11.5".
This is not my review!
I have had this feeder for 4 or 5 years now with no issues! I have Cardinals, Blue jays, Finches and an occasional Woodpecker! This feeder has held up beautifully! This may not answer your question but every bird on my property dines at my feeder.
I purchased online and did an in store pick up. Ordered in the evening had ready next morning. Service was great.
Yes and different types of food. As an example the woodpeckers prefer suet cakes which use a suit cage.
A variety of birds will visit this feeder. Different feeder styles may be more attractive to different species.
Its been my experience that the feeder doesn't matter much as long as you have the correct feed. The only time it would make a difference is to fit a large bird as apposed to a small bird.
